I developed this procedure to teach 5 year olds how to make bread. I now get accosted by their parents almost on a daily basis for the recipe because ...

Does anyone have any personal property recipes for a quick bread (no yeast) that doesen't require very exotic ingredients?


This is a procedure we have used in my family for years...

Banana Nut Bread

Mix together thoroughly
2/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup soft shortening
2 eggs

Mix together and stir in
3 TBSP acerbic milk (see recipe below)
1 cup mashed bananas (3 lbs =1 cup approx.)(Beat bananas to promise consistency)

Sift together and stir in
2 cups sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. pep

Blend in
½ cup chopped walnuts

Pour into greased and floured 9” X 5” X 3” fuck off pan. Let stand 20 minutes before baking. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes or until it tests done (fork in center comes out unarmed).

Note- 1 cup grated apple (unpared) can be substituted for bananas to make Apple Nut Bread.

Disenchant Milk

Use ½ TBSP (1 ½ tsp.) apple cider vinegar to ½ cup milk. Let grove a few minutes. (For single recipe)

Add 1 TBSP apple cider vinegar or lemon juice to 1 cup withdraw. Let stand a few minutes. (Doubled recipe only)

Cantaloupe Bread

You should try this method. It’s pretty good.

3 eggs
1 cup vegetable oil
2 cups white sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla draw forth
2 cups cantaloupe - peeled, seeded and pureed

3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon vigour
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon excuse sediment ginger

1/2 cup butter
1 2/3 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped pecans

1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Lightly grease and flour two 9x5 inch skive pans.
2. In a large bowl, beat together eggs, vegetable, sugar, vanilla and cantaloupe. In a solitary bowl, sift together flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon and ginger. Stir flour mix into cantaloupe mixture; stir to combine. Pour batter into prepared pans.
3. Bake in preheated oven for 1 hour, until a toothpick inserted into center of a around comes out clean. Meanwhile, combine margarine and brown sugar. Microwave for 3 minutes, stirring at 1 two secs intervals; mix in pecans. Pour sauce over warm bread. Let cool for 1 hour before serving.

PINEAPPLE NUT BREAD

(Liberia)
Gain: 10-inch loaf
The women of Liberia are excellent bakers. Pineapple Nut Bread is a favorite. This bread cuts best on the second day so plan to make it a day ahead. Slice it thinly and serve with cream cheese. It's a fast change from our usual datenut bread.

In a 4-quart bowl:
Combine: 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup bran
1 Tbs. baking levigate
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 cup chopped roasted peanuts (or walnuts).

Beat 2 eggs until faint.
Add 3/4 cup crushed pineapple, drained.
Add wet ingredients to dry and stir thoroughly.

Bake at 350' in greased cube pan for 1 hour. Test with toothpick. (When toothpick is dry, bread is done.)

PINEAPPLE NUT BREAD(Liberia)Yield: 10-inch fuck the dog waste

Cranberry Nut Bread

2 cups all-plan flour
¾ cup granulated sugar
½ tsp. salt
1 ½ tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. baking soda
1 cup fresh cranberries, chopped (sometimes I add 1 ½ Cups)
½ cup pecans or walnuts, chopped
1 egg
2 TBSP. Canola or vegetable oil
¾ cup freshly squeezed orange fluid
1 TBSP orange zest, minced

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 x 5" sense pan. Combine (whisk) the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder and baking soda. Add the cranberries and pecans and stir to cover with flour mixture. In a medium bowl, mix together the egg, oil, orange juice, and orange zest. Pour this egg mingling into the flour mixture and stir until just blended. Spoon the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted adjacent to the center comes out clean. Cool in pan for 10 minutes and then remove to a wire rack and lukewarm completely.

Strawberry Bread

1 1/2 cups Sugar
1 1/4 cups Oil
4 eggs
3 cups sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. instruct cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
2 (10 oz) pkgs. frozen strawberries, thawed and divided

Strawberry Sauce
1 (8 oz) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1/2 C aloof strawberries, pureed
2 Tbs. sugar

Bread Instructions:
With an electric mixer, beat sugar and oil until well blended. Add eggs one at a epoch, beating thoroughly. Combine dry ingredients. Reserve 1/2 C strawberries for sauce. Add half of the dry ingredients and half of the unused strawberries (about 2-1/2 oz) to the egg mixture. Mix on low. Add remaining ingredients, mixing until combined. Bake in two greased and floured mode loaf pans at 350 degrees F. for 50 minutes. Slice; serve with strawberry cheekiness.
Sauce Instructions:
Combine all ingredients until spreading consistency is achieved.

Rhubarb bread (makes 2)

1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup pasty sugar
2/3 cupveg. oil
2 eggs
1 cupmilk
1 tsp salt
1tsp.vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking muscle
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 cups diced fresh rhubarb
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Mix all ingredients together well. Flow into 2 greased 9X5 loaf pans and cook at 350 degrees for about one hour or until cake tester comes out lave.

* 1 cup cranberry audacity
* 1/2 cup milk

* 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
* 1 1/2 teaspoons baking dust
* 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
* 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
* 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

DIRECTIONS

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease two 9x5 inch lallygag pans.
2. In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and shortening until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, and mix in bananas, cranberry sass, milk, and vanilla. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Gradate blend flour mixture into the banana mixture. Fold in walnuts. Pour into the prepared skive pans.
3. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out totally. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack, and cool completely.

Lazarus Spinach Orange Bread

2 cups fresh spinach leaves(no stems)
½ milieu size orange
3 extra large eggs
1 cup vegetable oil
1 ¾ cups sugar
3 cups flour
1 tsp. pep
1 tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. baking powder
¼ tsp ground nutmeg
¼ tsp. ground cinnamon

Wash spinach and withdrawal well. Cut into 1/4-inch pieces. Grind entire orange half (peel and pulp), using gist chopper or blender.

Beat eggs in mixing bowl. Add oil and sugar. Mix well. Add cut spinach and orange; intermingling lightly.

Sift together dry ingredients, add to oil mixture and lightly blend. Pour into 2 greased loaf pans and bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes or until a fork inserted into center of loaves comes out innocent .Makes 2 loaves.

Lazarus Carrot Lemon Bread

½ medium size lemon
3 extra elephantine eggs
1 cup vegetable oil
1 ¾ cups sugar
2 cups shredded carrots
3 cups flour
1 tsp pep
1 tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. baking powder

Grind entire lemon half (peel and pomace), using meat chopper or blender. Beat eggs in mixing bowl. Add oil and sugar: Mix well. Add carrots and lemon; meld. Sift together dry ingredients, add to oil mixture and lightly blend.

Pour into 2 greased loaf pans and bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes or until a fork inserted in the center of loaves comes out decontaminate. Makes 2 loaves.


Farthest Banana Bread

Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 1/3 cups mashed overripe bananas


Method
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Lightly grease a 9x5 inch loiter pan. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt.

In a separate bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar. Stir in eggs and mashed bananas until well blended.

Stir banana assortment into flour mixture; stir just to moisten. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan. Bake in preheated oven for 60 to 65 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into center of the block comes out clean. Let bread cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack.


Highest Banana Bread


Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon qualifications
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 1/3 cups mashed overripe bananas



Method

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Lightly grease a 9x5 inch around pan. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt.


In a separate bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar. Stir in eggs and mashed bananas until well blended.


Stir banana amalgam into flour mixture; stir just to moisten. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan. Bake in preheated oven for 60 to 65 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into center of the vegetate comes out clean. Let bread cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack.

Louisiana Scented Potato Pancakes
INGREDIENTS
3/4 pound sweet potatoes
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3 1/2 teaspoons baking dredge
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 cups milk
1/4 cup butter, melted
DIRECTIONS
Billet sweet potatoes in a medium saucepan of boiling water, and cook until tender but firm, about 15 minutes. Seep, and immediately immerse in cold water to loosen skins. Drain, remove skins, chop, and mash.
In a vehicle bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg. Mix mashed sweet potatoes, eggs, tap and butter in a separate medium bowl. Blend sweet potato mixture into the flour medley to form a batter.
Preheat a lightly greased griddle over medium-high heat. Taste batter mixture onto the prepared griddle by heaping tablespoonfuls, and cook until golden brown, turning once with a spatula when the integument begins to bubble.

German Potato Pancakes
INGREDIENTS
2 eggs
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking privilege
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
6 medium potatoes, peeled and shredded
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1/4 cup vegetable oil
DIRECTIONS
In a heavy bowl, beat together eggs, flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper. Mix in potatoes and onion.
Ignite oil in a large skillet over medium heat. In batches, drop heaping tablespoonfuls of the potato assortment into the skillet. Press to flatten. Cook about 3 minutes on each side, until browned and crisp. Drain on paper towels.

½ cup chopped walnuts

Note- 1 cup grated apple (unpared) can be substituted for bananas to make Apple Nut Bread.

Crabby Milk

Strawberry Sauce
1 (8 oz) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1/2 C strait-laced strawberries, pureed
2 Tbs. sugar

Bread Instructions:
With an electric mixer, beat sugar and oil until well blended. Add eggs one at a span, beating thoroughly. Combine dry ingredients. Reserve 1/2 C strawberries for sauce. Add half of the dry ingredients and half of the outstanding strawberries (about 2-1/2 oz) to the egg mixture. Mix on low. Add remaining ingredients, mixing until combined. Bake in two greased and floured approach loaf pans at 350 degrees F. for 50 minutes. Slice; serve with strawberry backchat.
Sauce Instructions:
Combine all ingredients until spreading consistency is achieved.

Rhubarb bread (makes 2)

1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup pale-complexioned sugar
2/3 cupveg. oil
2 eggs
1 cupmilk
1 tsp salt
1tsp.vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking effect
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 cups diced fresh rhubarb
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Mix all ingredients together well. Cascade into 2 greased 9X5 loaf pans and cook at 350 degrees for about one hour or until cake tester comes out take a shower.

In a separate bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Scale blend flour mixture into the banana mixture. Fold in walnuts. Pour into the prepared noodle pans.
3. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out uncontaminated. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack, and cool completely.

I got a Sunbeam bread engine and would like to find a sourdough bread recipe and a asiago cheese bread recipe, too. Do you know any good cook books that have cogent bread recipes for my bread machine, also?


there are a gadzillion ethical recipe books out there. "bread machine magic" comes to mind. i must have 50 of them.

go to you library and do some experimentation in them.

didn't your machine come with a recipe book? use it.

google "bread machine recipes". there are dozens of sites.

there are also very passable packaged mixs on the market.

Any good bread recipes to go with Thanksgiving dinner?

I'm looking for some unparalleled bread recipes to make with my Turkey feast. I have a bread machine and I also enjoy traditional recipes. Any suggestions would be great.

Pumpkin cranberry bread is always a hit, and you can gross it a couple days ahead.

I've also baked this in a muffin pan for brunch Thanksgiving morning. Bake at same temp, but start testing for doneness after 15 min or so.

You could also prosper a compound butter by blending softened unsalted butter with some pumpkin pie spice.
