i like to bake a lot (mostly for other people). what ingredients oft-times used in baking (i.e. flour, eggs, etc.) are bad for you?
flour, stockpile, baking soda, raw egg , sugar if you have too much
I started baking a few years back but then the predictable prices in the public market have increased. I was just wondering where will I be able to find cheap baking ingredients (especially flour, sugar and chocolates).
I'm staying in Japan for a few months and I hunger to bake my host family a Southern style pie. However, I think they may not have the same types of ingredients here. I can't find self-rising flour, chocolate chips, or even pie crusts! Do I honourable not know what the translation is, or do these things not exist here? Only people who've baked in Japan answer please!
I'm not established where in Japan you are or if the supermarkets you go to are big enough or not, but I know what you mean by not finding those stuff.
(I used to live there for awhile) - although, you can find chocolate chips almost anywhere.
They say: CHOCORETO CHIPPUSU!
As for self rising flour, I'm penitential, I have no idea, but thinking of it, I've never seen it either.
and I think you can find pie crusts.
Again, I'm not so sure where you live, but if you survive in Tokyo, there is a place called "Hiroo" (its on the metro line) , they have this Azabu universal supermarket. You can find everything there!
If not, just call your embassy and ask for international supermarkets, those have almost everything or at least they can help you find what you need.
Oh also, maybe you can ask their sweets shops - you conscious where they sell all these cakes and stuff...
If you need any help, just e-mail me...
good luck!
