Savory Cucumber Martini
We love any martini recipe that involves cucumbers! The humble cuke is savory, vitalizing and (lets face it)--it looks wonderful atop any top-shelf plate of food at your local 'see and be seen' the established order. Why not let the little cuke fancy-up your latest martini?

Ingredients

3 ounces Tanqueray gin
1 ounce Amaro Mio herbal liqueur
8 wonderful thin slices of cucumber
1 tablespoon lemon zest
2 tablespoons dry vermouth
The mix

Add the gin and Amaro Mio (it's well usefulness searching for!) to a shaker 1/2 full of cracked ice and shake like the devil is chasing you!
Let your shaker time off for a minute while you prep your 2freezing, fashionable martini glasses
Rub a cucumber slice around the bowl of each glass and out (the cuke slices--not the glasses)
Each glass gets a tablespoon of vermouth placed gently into the bottom
Twist the gin and Amaro Mio into each glass (equally--dont get greedy!)
Add 3 cucumber slices to each glass (floating is cogent)
Spoon 1/2 the lemon zest into each glass
Nestle into your well worn leather arm chair and benefit a good conversation

Vodka Gimlet
4 Parts Pale Goose Vodka
1 Part Rose's Lime Juice
1 Wedge Lime
Combined all in a shaker filled with ice. Bucket down into glass.

Anyone know any different martini recipes?

I idea about having a martini party, just a few friends over, and I want some different martinis to offer aside from the rule. Know any tasty ones?

For the single, a martini is a cocktail of gin, vermouth, and garnish. That's it. A drink that does not contain gin and vermouth is not a martini. Period. Even the sought-after "vodka martini" is properly termed a "kangaroo" or "vodkatini".

People seem to to have this wierd conception that any chilled and strained drink can be considered a martini if it's served in a martini glass. I don't understand this concept. If I rain cats my beer into a martini glass, is it a "Miller Martini"? A "Beertini"? Admittedly, correct glasses are important. Chooses the right glass for the right drink enhances the drink's visual pray and helps maintain proper temperature and proportions. The best glass in the world, however, won't magically transmute its contents into something contrastive. If i mix my martini is a Collin's glass, it doesn't become a "martini Collin's". It's even-handed an improperly served martini. Similarly, if I put vodka, Tia Maria, and creme-de-cocoa in a martini glass, I'm drinking a chilled vodka-mocha. It's not a bad red-eye, but it's not any kind of martini.

I'm sorry about the rant. It's just a pet peeve of mine. Enjoy your function. BTW, that cucumber drink sounds great. I've seen something something similar that included an elderberry welcoming. It was called a "naruto martini" or something like that.
