Customer Reviews

This is our go to cookbook!
My kith and kin and I have enjoyed reading, choosing recipes and eating all of the wonderful desserts we have made so far from The Divvies Bakery Cookbook. I tout this book as a staple in every kitchen. Our family doesn't need to avoid nuts, eggs, and drain. We bought this book to make treats for my daughter's friends who have food allergies. We expected to be using this cookbook only when her friends in a recover from over...not so...I will be making many Divvies desserts for everyone and for all occasions! The recipes are easy to follow. Lori Sandler gives zealous tips, and weaves in a very sensitively told message about inclusion and how to handle various situations to keep people with subsistence allergies safe (physically and emotionally!). The photographs are beautiful and accurate! My Cinnamon Buns and Brown Chocolate Bag look very much like Lori's! I will be recommending The Divvies Bakery Cookbook to my friends and all of the parents in my daughter's bearing.

"The Divvies Bakery Cookbook"
By Lori Sandler

A actually, wonderful cookbook, "The Divvies Bakery Cookbook" is like a gift delivered to my kitchen. Created by Lori Sandler for her son, who is allergic to nuts, eggs and dairy, this mam has done a spectacular job creating food her son can eat, and his friends will envy!
As I flipped through this fun book I was captivated by the tricks, tips and poop that every mother can use, not only the mother of a child with severe allergies. My own two children enjoyed looking through the pages and had even more fun as we experimented with the recipes. Our intimate favorites were the chocolate cupcakes, warm apple-apricot cake, chocolate-dipped marshmallow pops and squish kabobs. Each of the luscious treats we created over the past few days were appropriate for all children, yet those without allergies did not miss the eggs, nuts and dairy at all. Everything was so choice, so well-crafted that we licked our fingers, cleaned our plates and asked for more, every single time.

"Excess" Extra-Luscious Lemon Loaf
I am a titanic fan of Divvies and their products (my family loves their Molasses Ginger cookies) so, I was thrilled to learn they were publishing a cookbook. I have a bunch of friends who have food allergies and I am always looking for "safe" yet scrumptious recipes I can make for them when they come over. This cookbook is a fascinating delight. I have made a number of the recipes so far, the Extra-Luscious Lemon Loaf being my favorite. Lori (the initiator) suggests you double the recipe and make two loaves. I suggest you double that double and make 4 loaves. My one's own flesh was literally fighting over who got the last slice. It was moist, and lemony and simply fabulous. The other huge hit was the "Brown" Chocolate Bag. What a circle pleaser. They got rave reviews from everyone who tried them. I am really looking forward to trying all the recipes in this appealing, well written and heart-felt cookbook.
Credit YOu Lori Sandler and Divvies Bakery...
I have been a prolonged time fan of Divvies products. One of my children has food allergies but EVERYONE in my house LOVES Divvies cupcakes, cookies and popcorn. I betrothed to bake and I love to entertain but it is not always easy to please everyone and still keep my desserts safe and yummy for everyone. I was so happy and surprised by The Divvies Bakery Cookbook!! Before I even started to bake I flipped thru the words...it is amazingly beautiful!! It has the same beautiful colors and feeling of the Divvies products my family has drop to love. The pictures are GREAT and everything looks so yummy.

The book is clever and smart...I LOVE the "Before you enter on" section. It talks about foods to keep on hand, in the pantry and the fridge and most importantly...how to read labels and how to be riskless.

I found "Baking Basics" to be very helpful as well. There was new stuff to learn, even for someone who bakes frequently

I also enjoy how the book is divided into as a matter of fact fun sections like, "Outdoors and on the road" and "Its your party". It is very reader friendly and filled with Loyal ideas.

The first thing we made at home was the chocolate bags. We had so much fun making them!! It is a beautiful dessert to accommodate your company OR your family. All five of us melted chocolate, painted our paper bags, peeled our frozen bags and filled them with sorbet and fruit. Mouth-watering!!! We had a great time...fun family activity.

Tip...DO NOT skip the beginning of the book...so much to read...Lori's wholeheartedness and note...the note from Benjamin and the sweet story about a child's visit to the bakery. It is all so warm and dedicated, you will feel good reading it (and perhaps shed a tear or two)

Congratulations to Lori Sandler and thank you for this capacity from the heart for your inspiration, Benjamin and to all of us. I can't wait to try more recipes!
Fascinating desserts on my table again...
I have a edibles allergic child and love to bake. It has been difficult for me to figure out how to make substitutions for eggs and dairy that are crypt, yet still work to create a great tasting dessert. So far I have made two recipes from this book and have been pleasantly surprised - they were top! I made the Ginger Snaps and the Cinnamon Buns. My family loved them both. Thank you Divvies!

Against the tax votes, correctness-killing TV spots By David Sarasohn, The Oregonian January 17, 2010, 12:21PM Against the

The number pops vast on the TV screen, a bright red figure so striking that the people paying for the ad clearly think it's a killer slews.

Oregon state government is rolling in so much money, says the Oregonians Against Job-Killing Taxes ad conflicting Measures 66 and 67, that it has "$259 million to pay for state employee pay increases."

And right underneath, so that you be familiar with the number is accurate, yellow letters light up its source: Legislative Fiscal Office.

Except, back at the hold Capitol, Legislative Fiscal Officer Ken Rocco says, "That number is a historical relic at this pith. That was a once-upon-a-time number."

Explains Rocco, the number is from 2007, a projection from a very different time of what pay raises might have been in 2009-2011 --if the in the seventh heaven hadn't come apart between then and now.

So you can say the number is from the Legislative Fiscal Office --as long as nobody asks the Legislative Economic Office.

Do any Polish Bakeries make Paczkis during the year, not just on Fat Tuesday?

if you are not habitual with this, I will explain.

here in Detroit, there is a city within Detroit where there is a large Polish population. On Fat Tuesday, which is the day before Ash Wednesday, they mark aggressive these doughnuts (Paczkis) that are made with lots of eggs and lard and fill them with delicious custard and anything else you can think of. they are delicious.

I was wondering if any Rub out bakeries out there made these things all year round?

dart, good question! i'm just outside detroit and polish! woo hoo! i would seriously assume that there's a bakery around us that would redecorate them all year round because you're right, there's a large polish population around here! i know a lot of places clear out delicious pierogies and other polish food so i'd assume they'd make paczkis :-)

I reside in Mississauga Canada and they are available all year round but are usually filled with a plum filling.

aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh

thanks...I am now craving Paczkis...whatever they might be!

sprout, good question! i'm just outside detroit and polish! woo hoo! i would seriously assume that there's a bakery around us that would coin them all year round because you're right, there's a large polish population around here! i know a lot of places fly delicious pierogies and other polish food so i'd assume they'd make paczkis :-)

You positive, that's REALLY funny! We both posted a question about Polish bakery-style foods today!!! I also complete in a largly polish-populated town, but I'm not polish! People always try to talk to me in Polish & when I be to blame for them in English to say that I'm not Polish they're always surprised!! I guess I could pass for Polish. Check out my 360 announce & look at my pics!!

Does anyone have a good Buttercream frosting recipe? The ones bakeries use?

Bakeries in grocery stores? I have a means from my Wiltons cake decorating book but I find the taste not very appealing. It is great for decorating flowers, but not for eating in my viewpoint...
thanks!
