Can I use a springform cake pan to bake a boxed cake mix?

My springform pan is good the size I need for the birthday cake I want to make, however I am not certain if you can put regular cake mix in a springform pan without it running out the bottom. I have never second-hand a springform cake pan before, but I do know they are typically used for cheesecakes and the like. So, if I put a boxed cake mix in the springform pan, will it turn out as if I tempered to a regular pan? Or should I just make do with my other cake pans and improvise to get what I need, so I spare myself a potential mess from the springform pan? Thanks for your warning!

Of tack you can, any heat-proof container can be used to bake a cake!

HOWEVER, as you observed, the batter could possibly seep out from under the collar at the counterfeit - all you have to do is the following:

For any cake batter (except Angel food)
a) Lightly grease the collar and base of the spring-format pan
b) assemble the pan and line with a single round of "parchment paper/ wax paper/ greaseproof notepaper or baking liner paper", carefully easing it all the way around in the bottom and up the sides of the pan, crimping the paper down to on a fairly smooth liner
c) lightly grease AND flour inside the paper

For Angel comestibles batter do NOT grease and flour the pan, just line it as best you can to keep the batter from seeping out the bottom seam. Grease will effect the egg whites to deflate and ruin the cake.

Cheers & good luck!

its ok with a springform pan
that's what I do

yes I have with no problems

I never tried but forbear me know how it works out.

Bestow yourself the mess! I made that mistake as a teenager. It will run out the bottom like crazy. Not to mention that the cake mix is designed to do 2 smaller layers, not one leggy one. The outside will overcook while the middle won't set if you do it all in one pan.

You can use a bundt pan if you want to change one or two ingredients(bundt novelty often right on the box). Otherwise, do a sheet cake or run out and get a couple cake pans. Or do cupcakes!

Why not?

Put some nip in the bud around the bottom edge of the pan, where the sides meet the bottom, and then put the pan on a sheetpan, so if it does leak at all, the mess is contained.

There is genuinely no problem using a sprinform pan with box mix. Just make sure your pan is in good condition, check that the lip on the bottom fits well, the fastener is not loose, etc. However if you still feel unsure, spray the pan well with pam and line your pan with saran wrap, leaving a good hang out over. It will shrink, so allow enough for it ( 2in.) That will definately alleviate any leakage.

Happy cake making

yes proper make sure your cake is in the center of the oven and near the top ....if you know how to check by inserting a pierce use this as you may need to bake it a little longer.....there is no difference using a spring form pan as if you old a little larger pan.....you will like the end result when it comes time to remove your cake...

Can you bake angel food cake in a regular cake pan?

I'm proposing to my girlfriend this weekend and her favorite cake is angel viands cake. What I wanted to do was cook the angel food cake in a regular (deeeeep) baking dish, and hollow out a play on the bottom to put the ring box. I know that angel food is normally made in the pan with the hole in the center -- will it taste bad or dog-leg out wrong if I use a normal deep baking pan instead? Thanks in advance!

Count you gal says ...YES !!!!

And yes it will work.I make it in a loaf (bread pan) when I use it for strawberry shortcake.I like the smaller slices for brunch.

Can you Exchange 1 kind cake pan for another?

I have a carrot cake approach that calls for it to be baked in 2 10-inch round cake pans. However, I need to make a sheet cake. My questions are: 1) is it even plausible to exchange the 2 10-inch round pans for 1 rectangular pan; 2) if so, what size rectangular pan should I use; and 3) how much of an purport on my cooking time will occur?

You can use an 9 x 13 inch rectangular pan for your cake, and it will prerequisite to cook, longer - about 10 minutes, but check with a toothpick in the center to be sure.

You could even use a loaf pan but the cook leisure is even longer, or muffin tins (12) - shorten the cook time.

From The Heart Cake
From The Heart Cake I over recall there are probably many versions of this type of cake, but this one turns out especially good. Be sure to use an electric mixer so that the ingredients are well combined. The programme calls for a 10 inch or 10 cup bundt pan.
