Wedding Cakes?

Hi, i dont be aware if anybody can help...

Im trying to find a college course on making wedding cakes and i've had no luck.
I just wondered if anybody knows of any courses etc

Through you for your help :) x

( I live in Leicester )

http://www.wilton.com they have videos and books convenient for how to on wedding cakes.

why take a course?? go get some dummy cake forms and ice and decorate them til you can do it with ease. Stacking cakes the same way.

Take photos of all the dummy cakes you adorn to your satisfaction and make a scrap book of what you can do.

I took a crash course in a real working bakery on decorating cakes upright at Mothers Day one year, follow up was all the wedding shower cakes, high school graduation cakes then June and all the Wedding cakes that were on the schedule!!

My cousin did her cake decorating on numbskull cakes photographing them and making a book of the best of her ideas. She posted signs in the churches on bulletin boards and at laundromats and other places brides might see them. All the signs had a encrust as feature site.
She has a very thriving business from her home.

Not sure what your plans are, but those are my ideas on how to do this.

Your nearby community college might have some 'craft classes' on cake decorating and baking. You may also requisite to check with your local arts and crafts store, they may surprise you. I know that, for example, there are some Michael's stores that mastery cake decorating classes that range from simple to complex, like wedding cakes. Good luck!

i did a pastry decorating course when i was younger which my mum arranged for me. she just asked in the local cake decorating snitch on, dont know if you have one near you. you could google it to find your nearest. i dont think books are much use except to refresh your honour of what you have learnt, there are techniques that are quite difficult to master unless some one has shown you especially flower making as its very fiddly. oh the purchase was in erdington in birmingham long time ago though! check out http://www.diy-icingcentre.co.uk/home.cfm

Have you got a announcement from your local adult college? I know our local college does that sort of thing but rather a sustained way for you to travel to Berkshire! Good luck.

What's your favorite wedding cake flavor? Do you prefer cakes with many options or just one?

My husband-to-beé and I love strawberry filled wedding cakes. Yummy. I personally like having different flavored layers as some people don't like strawberry... I've reasoning of chocolate which the groom's cake is traditionally but he'd prefer a different flavor (although it's a dumfound). I was curious what other people like.

Congratulations and best of luck in planning and in your marriages.

Thanks for the answers.

Yum! Strawberry!
We are having 5 dissimilar flavors in our cake. Each tier is separate. It was quite the battle to narrow it down. Thank goodness for our parents help out! We're having a winter wedding, so we wanted richer flavors. Congrats and good luck!!!

How do you stack wedding cakes?

I am getting married and i am making my own wedding bun well i am buying the cakes ready made and iced from marks nd spencers, i will be arranging and decorating them so was wondering if anyone knows how to agglomerate a 3 tier wedding cake?
And also how do you stop them sliding off? lol And what do you put around the edge so you cant see the joins of the cakes? I am presuming ribbon for that or more icing?! Thanks Gem x

They have wood dowls that you can put in the mesial of the cake. Get about 3-4 of them and just slide them through all the layers. Make sure the dowls are long enough to go through all but the top layer. Nothing will mud-slide around. Extra icing is easy, just make sure you use the same kind. (sugar based or cream based)
Well-mannered Luck.
