How to sell Antique Silver Flatware

Nadja,

I would like your counsel on the vanquish way to over persuaded admirable flatware. I am interested in selling a set of Stieff Rose. Here’s a story of what I have.

78pc STIEFF ROSE Formation Superb Silver plate FLATWARE SET

Presented is a powdery 78 chest assemble superior pretty flatware set by Stieff. The set is done in the Stieff Rose arrangement which was first produced in 1892. The knives, pit command carving fork, and servers have pure whitish-grey handles and stainless stiletto blades. All other pieces are cubic true greyish.

The set includes: If you have the culture, the highest prices are paid for individual pieces by folks who poverty to repay a missing note from their set, such as an iced tea spoon. You can selling the set, in agreement by destroyed on eBay or a be like online auction and the items are leisurely to passenger liner, as they are not breakable. Set up an account. Stay until the stay clears before shipping or only admit moolah orders. To give other readers some unobtrusive on the Steiff Rose model, which is very habitual in the Baltimore, Maryland domain of the hinterlands- the organization is characterized by an pompous raised rose diagram. The earlier pieces, quite produced before the mill moved from downtown Baltimore to the Wyman Car park neighborhood are marginally larger in square footage and heavier in worth. In 1979 Steiff purchased Samual Kirk and Sons having in days of old purchased the assets of the Kirk Corporation in the new 60s. In 1990 Lenox Incorporated purchased Kirk-Steif and still produces the Steiff Rose composition model on.

With silverplate you only privation to terminate when needed and as with all white do not put your items in the dishwasher. Share wet with indulgent soap and hot Facetious Adam's ale. A toothbrush will lift you get into nooks and crannies. Any silver cleaner will labour, but be well-organized not to become any residuum of the cleaner behind. Furbish and bathe carefully.

While it is always high-ranking to check out prices and recommendations, if you prefer to sales-clerk to a responsibility that deals in valued metals– your choicest tactics is to rep items to individuals who are making the obtain because they scarceness to use or converge that element article. Thus, if you can find a uninitiated span who be to own a set of admirable flatware, they are common to pay a safer valuation than a wholesaler who is in the commerce of melting down pretty and selling in volume.

Cleaning antique carving knife and fork set?

Does anyone advised of what I should use to clean the horn part of an antique carving knife and fork set?

Ammonia you can sponge up them in it it will not alter the color but it will clean off all the gunk and stains then polish the blades as you would normally with a good white polish

a diminutive bit of toothpaste on a toothbrush and gently rub the horn part , it should bring it up a treat.

Where can I get someone to identify an antique knife handle?

All I have is three handles, no metal goods, would like to know what they were for. Is there anyone or anywhere I can look for identification. Looks to be for whittling or carving

Most any antique stockist worth his salt would have catalogs you could look at. A carpenter or local hardware store could also be of help, since many such tools are still in use and at an earlier time were homemade.
