i have a dull electric carving knife does anyone know how you sharpen a blade that has serrated edges?

im not dependable if i can use a regular sharpener on serrated blades

My mom's bird bought me a wood carving knife a long time about and I loved it it was really simple just a wooden tackle and about a 1 inch blade on the end and that's about it nothing fancy. I have no idea where it went and I was wandering if anyone could direct me to a good wood carving kit or knife or advocate one please.

I haven't worked with wood very much, but from the inspection on the butternut wood, it looks like people are suggesting wetting it.
