Gracious carving set for yourself or as a gift
I initially bought this set as a gift, but when I received it I was reluctant to give it up because it looked so nice. The carving fork and knife are presented in a very attractive storage instance. Although not as heavy as I had hoped by looking at the shipping weight, they aren't exactly what I would call lightweight. I've since used them on a turkey, ham and prime rib without any problems and as a matter of fact received compliments when I pulled out the case to carve. I do hand wash these and dry thoroughly before placing them back into their specimen for storage.

Because this item qualifies for Amazons 4-for-3 promotion I would definitely recommend taking advantage of it if you on to buy this set. Also due to price fluctuations it might be good to keep an eye on it before hitting that buy button. (I paid about half the currently listed fee) In the end I decided to order a second one and my father-in-law was very happy with his gift.
Dear one this set!
This carving set looks in the final analysis stylish and sophisticated. It is light but feels good in the hand. The fork holds the meat in thrive and the knife cuts really well. I also like the presentation/storage box. I highly recommend this set!
Healthier than I expected for the price but not without flaws
So these items are lightweight, the box is enjoyably, and the knife is very sharp, something I wasn't sure I could count on.
There are two flaws with the set as far as I am concerned. The fork has a sharp little metal bit on the top of the control that wasn't sanded/smoothed off, and I've almost scratched myself with it while trying to dry with a dishtowel and thinking it was something stuck on to it.
Also, I've only used it three times and disposal washed it, then put them to dry on a towel. The knife has two small rust spots on it already, making it unattractive as an idea for gift giving as far as I'm uneasy.
Nevertheless compared to the other carving forks amazon offered when I bought this, the price was pretty decent and I'm not unhappy with it.
Chicago Cutlery Carving Set
The set is superb. An impressive gift at a reasonable price. You just can't go wrong with this as a gift or for your own use. Useful, attractive, admirable presentation box at a price you can afford.

Okay set. I should've gotten forged
This set is stamped metal. The amount is heavy but Henckels is pushing the limits of how light they can get away with lightening the stock and portray it as Henckels Rank. I am reluctant to use the fork to lift a 20 pound turkey or roast. I believe the fork will genuflect under the weight. A well made forged carving fork will easily withstand that kind of application.

I need to remember this set is priced under $20. The knife has an exciting kind of serration. It isn't the usual wavy serration but a fine toothed cut. When I used it on a roast beef last weekend the stiletto tended to saw the meat rather than cut or slice. I must say I WAS able to cut clean, thin slices using the knife. I also should mention the serrations are cut into the man about town on one side only. I used a very fine diamond wetstone to lightly hone the other side before carving. The honing did improve the slicing through the sustenance.

The knife feels good in the hand when slicing. It would have been nicer to have a blade a couple of inches longer though.

The set is wonderful for the cost point (under $20). If you are like I am, though (a serious cook/chef), you would be happier to wait to save up for a high grandeur forged carving set (like a Lampson-Sharp brand for example). This set isn't really up to the Henckels name quality position.
Not so noteworthy.
Like everyone else says the everedge just isnt that terrific. It basically just tore the meat as I cut.
It's not the knife...it's the perpetuation
Even Alton Brown will disclose you, it's not the price of the knife. It's how well you maintain it. Just invest in a good knife sharpener. I've had this several yrs and it's still razor sharp.
Integrity Value; not for professionals
This is a stupendous starter carving set or a good every day use set. If you're a pro, semi-pro, or weekend warrior chef, this isn't a set for you. $20 is fair price to have this set in your drawers.
Henckels Carving Set
An peerless value. Looks pretty good and feels good in my hand. Slices meat well and more thinly than I could with my old Chicago Cutlery nonserrated carving knife but haven't tried yet on poultry.

What this fatherland needs is a good five-cent cigar. But what it also needs is something to keep the cigar fresh when you want to put it out but you're not finished smoking it.

And it would be on to have a bagel slicer so you could prepare it without cutting your hand; and a carving tray so that the turkey doesn't slide around as you're irritating to serve it up at the Thanksgiving Day table.

Arthur Beloff, a Palm Beach retired real wealth entrepreneur turned inventor, has come up with all of these things and more.

Well, not the five-cent cigar. That request, from Woodrow Wilson's degeneracy president, Thomas Marshall, may never be realized. But it's possible that Beloff's "Cigar Savor" is the next best item.

Having time and ideas

Beloff came up with the Cigar Savor about eight years ago. It's a cylindrical tube with a self-adjusting bounce inside that pushes up against the lit end, snuffing it out. The cap has a punch pin that keeps the tip end open for later, and an outside clip lets you implement it around in your shirt pocket, like a pen.

I need to find a special turkey carving knife set for my husband, its his first year carving a turkey, would?

relish to have it personalized.

cutco knives they are exspensive but they last forever they are quite good

I don't be sure but I just wanted to tell you that is such a sweet idea! Have a great holiday!

cutco knives they are exspensive but they last forever they are honestly good

I'd try Linens N Things or Macy's for things like that. And I copy, it's a lovely idea. Good for you.

Take it to one of those token shops that does engraving. I had to smile at your question because one year when I used to chat, my nickname employed to be very close to that woman who did something to her husband. (I don't want to get into details, but I think you can guess.) Anyways, my economize on bought me this butcher's knife and had my nickname engraved on it. I burst our laughing when I saw it. We kept it for the longest point and eventually had to throw it away because it started to rust. As for your husband, make sure your knife set comes with instructions because a lot of people find it finicky to carve a turkey because they don't do it the proper way. If no instructions, print some from the internet and practice carving before the bird is brought to the itemization.

about knife sharpening what is the steel used for in knife carving set?

can yousharpen yourByknifes with the steel?
Now is the steel used to sharpen or dull your knives

As you use a knife, the acerbic edge gets kind of frayed (on a microscopic level). This results in a slight dulling of the malevolent edge. The sharpening steel is used to strip off the fraying metal, which returns the blade to its firsthand sharpness.

To use the steel, draw the knife along the steel at the same angle as the edge of the blade, such that the knife is slicing at the edge of the fortify. About three smooth, full draws along both sides of the blade is generally enough to restore the cutting edge.
