WHAT A WONDERFUL BUY
Thanks to Amazon.com I at the last moment have a decent set of kitchen knives. I have gotten many knives from other manufacturers that weren't worth even opening up. They, too, had promised a "lifetime commitment" which needless to say was as worthless as the knives. These knives come in a very nice black block holder that is a well turned out addition to any kitchen. I would definitely recommend them!

Advantage product for the money
For the figure this set is a winner. The knives cut well but are not as sharp as I had anticipated. The set is well made and looks good.

Terrific set! - RUSTED though
As a left hander, I would hugely recommend this knife set. It is durable, looks good and the knifes are sharp! I am 25 and have never found a knife set that was affordable for left handers, until I found this. Repentant to say I have had these knives for only 1 month and they have already started to rust! Very sad.

Razor Sharpies
Ginsu Knives are what all the hype is about. They very sharpened and sturdy. When slicing an onion or tomatoe they make it so easy.I use mine on fresh pineapple too. I had a black treat set only to just buy a stainless steel set for my wife, know we use the older set for camping. Oh the price and delivery was a bargin too.
Show one's gratitude you

KNIFE SET
We principally purchased this product for our kitchen stainless decor. We love the way it looks in our kitchen. We have heard that the set works well but we are pleased the way it is made.

Knife missing
The mark of these knives is about average. There are supposed to be 13 knives in the set. My set contained only 12. Am I going to return it? What a hassle that would be for one more knife. Do yourself a favor and community a different set.
Trustworthy Knife Set
I was a bit skeptical purchasing this set of knives, since I'd never truly bought knives before. I was pleasantly surprised to find what a solid set these are! All of the knives are slightly serrated and cut really nicely. I have had no problems contemptuous freshly baked bread, fruit or steak with these knives. The wood block they come with is also attractive and attractive. Highly recommend for anyone looking to purchase a solid set of knives for cheap!

egregious knives for your buck
These are a solicitous value for a general kitchen. I don't know if an experienced chef would recommend them, but as a mom who cooks dinner every night, I find them very worthwhile. I never knew that cutting potatoes could be so easy. :)
Elevated Buy
This Knife set is matchless. It looks nice on kitchen counter. So far looks like it is dishwasher safe.

Enormous Knives for a Great Price
I ordered these knives based on the assay factor, but also the quantity factor as well. I was trying to get as much as I could for as little money as possible. I was lucky enough to accomplish both! I had heard of Ginsu knives before as being sold on TV, but had never in fact owned any. These are some great knives for the price! They come razor sharp out of the box and so far they have stayed that way for me. The knife block was a large attraction as well. I am really happy with these knives, and while there are certainly much better quality knives out there, you will also be paying an arm and a leg and get half of what you get with this set.

Lee Zierten's Knife Skills Workshop Part One Phoenix New Times (blog)

A chef is only as secure as his tools, right? We popped by Lee Zierten's Knife Skills Workshop at Practical Art this old times Sunday and jotted down a few of his tips to help you keep your own tools in shape. Pay attention now, Chow Bella savoir faire, since Zierten says he's unlikely to do another seminar anytime soon.
The vast Debate: Stainless vs. Carbon Steel
"Most of us are familiar with the old knives that have been used in our families in the times gone by, where the blades are kind of dark grey looking. They always worked well and they were always easy to sharpen," Zierten said. But that doesn't measly carbon steel is preferable. The downside is that it pits easily and tends to discolor.
Zierten brought several of his own kitchen knives to the demo, all of which were stainless insulate. "I've had them in the kitchen for 2-3 years now and they've held up beautifully," he explained as he passed the knives around. "Today's stainless is decent about as good as carbon steel. There's really no advantage to go back to carbon."

I'm looking to purchase a kitchen knife set. I understand Henckels, Cutco and Wusthofs or the best but?

I'm not looking to splash out 200.00 on a knife set. I was looking at chapalon and especially kitchen aid. They have a full tang and a riveted all the way. Anybody have any suggestions. Is Henckels and those names in reality for professional cooks. Kitchen aid would do real well right?
I sugest checkint out the Ginzu of Tokyo type of knives.

My pre-eminent suggestion is to go to your local store, look for one which you like to hold in your hand. Also buy a knife sharpener to sharpen the Rather playboy whenever necessary.
That is what I did five years before. Still using the same knife.

We have had some information expeience with the Cutco line of cutlery. Modest priced, easy to use, good handles and wait sharp.
I 've also purchased an excellent chefs and utility knife from Chicago cutlery. Other family members use only Henkels and remarkably like them.
Consumers Reports did an article on knives within the last year or so. You might want to check them out.
I do not know WHO manufacturers the knives for KitchenAid, but I waver if they make their own.

I tout Forschner knives. They were rated very high by Cooks Magazine several years ago when compared to the high end brands. They are significantly less dear than Henckels and Wusthoffs. You can buy an 8 piece set for $149. I bought mine separately and got just the pieces I wanted. I now have 10 of them and have tolerant of them exstensively for years. They've been fantastic.
They have full tangs but not riveted handles. That hasn't ever been a unmanageable. I purchased mine at www.pcd.com. They used to be called Professional Cutlery Direct, but changed their name.

I have Kitchen Aid knives and I light of one's life them. I do a lot of cooking, it is my passion and I think that they are great. Always sharp, I have had a few of my knives for going on two years and they are just as artful as they were when I first got them. They are great for the price. My mom has Cutco and they are great too, if you want to spend $800 for a set of knives. Kitchen Aid are much more affordable.
Peachy | Jan 15, 2007
A less priceless knife will do the job, but you will have to replace it more often. Sometimes you are better off spending a bit more upfront to save you down the road.
Just depends on how much disposible return you have right now.
Matthew R | Jan 15, 2007
Henckels all the way..
One superior $200 set and you are good forever! They hold their sharp for a long time and they sharpen up very easily when they do necessary it.
I'm not a pro but I hate a dull knife. And I hate replacing stuff that I bought just a year or two ago. I get rather partial to to my knives and like to keep the same ones for a long time.

Kitchen Knife Set Choice for my Mother's Birthday ?
Jul 10, 2008 by Flat Eric | Posted in Other - Home & Garden
I am looking for a subtle Kitchen knife Set to buy for my Mother's Birthday, I want something thats dependable and Very Sharp, I want to make vicious meats easier for her because her hands get tired from cutting meats with her current knives.
I'm looking to fritter away anywhere between $100 to $300
What Brands should i look into?
What major store chain can i check?
I live in Chicago
Express You for your Advice !!
What you're looking for, in unspecialized, is a set of forged knives, instead of stamped. (if a knife set is forged, it will say so on the box and/or advertisement - if it's stamped, it will simply not say "forged").
Wusthoff makes a musical good forged knife set in various sizes (number of knives). You can get an 8-piece set for $240 delivered.
Henckels is another chattels knife brand. Stores that sell knife sets are Bed, Bath, and Beyond or Sonoma Williams, or even at places like Costco, or turn on stores that sell kitchen utensils (not just clothes or whatever).
