Can a gift set of carving knives be put in stored baggage for flight?

We shortage to send a family member home on the plane with a gift set of carving knives (not opened and not wrapped) in his checked gear. Will this be allowed by security?

I think that that will be okay. I would suggest that you visit the TSA website http://www.tsa.gov/ they have the complete list of what you can bring on the aircraft with you in your support on luggage and checked luggage.

I would be scared if it was electric. I would freak out.hehe.
It sounds crazy but true. I have a thing about knives.
When I was 10 I took a ham blade(butcher knife).
Being a stupid little kid trying to cut lemons with my friend. I didn't do as one is told to her or my dad. Chopped the lemon, the knife went through the lemon & to my hand. I was lucky to have only 3 stitches.
Now I twitch every nonetheless I see sharp knives. How do ya think I would do with an electric one?hehe
