abate but overpriced.
Its mellifluous cool and all...had just the perfect spot for it. I would have prefered it a bit bigger, but its not tiny. Just seems WAY overpriced. Even here...to which I was surprised.
Very Delighted
I am very on top of the world with this item. Great for collectors, too! I have put this outside my garden shed and it added so much fun and charm to it! I love it! Decidedly recommended.
Formidable
I rapture this. Mine is attached to a wall in my kitchen... On the back of the bar that supports the witch there is the manufacturer's name, etc., which is a bit obnoxious, but a bit of electrical bind, and it covers right up!
Excellent for grown-up kids too!
I'm a 35 year old suburban mom living in a criterion middle class neighborhood with a traditionally decorated home and I love this sign. We hung it in our caboose next to the laundry room door and it always makes me smile whenever I look at it. It's not gaudy or tacky. It's not so big that it's the focus of the scope but it makes enough of a statement that, for those who notice it, a conversation is sure to follow. It's been a welcome addition to our home and, while the kids partiality it too, is appropriate for grown-up tastes as well!
Over the moon as punch
Bought this as a knack and was very pleased that it is metal and durable enough to be hung outside (I think). In my mind I was thinking it was going to be marginally larger than it is (it's only about 6 inches wide) but it still looks great and I'm very pleased with it. It will be a great accent for Halloween, or in fact any time of the year.

Wares read
I enjoyed the rules. It was interesting to hear about Harry Potter from a fan's view and to know that the books are just as entertaining to adults as children. I'm tickled pink I'm not alone being an adult Potter fan.
Have to give Anelli a "D" on her O.W.L.s*
I extraordinarily wanted to like this book.

But, if you spend 8 hours over two days with the author of the most anticipated work of fiction in representation; the woman who was responsible for a revolution in reading among schoolchildren, you would think J.K. Rowling would have more to say about the experience than, "We couldn't check on topic." (You and Jo are BFFs - I get it already. Now where's the story?)

Sorry, I expected more from a pro.

*I would have given her a "T", but she managed to work in the discussion "rapaciously", which took some balls.
Heinous read!
I loved the earmark. I laughed and cried. It was hard to put down. I felt it really told the story for us adult fans who sensible of a little funny about loving HP as much as we do, but gave ourselves over to it because we couldn't resist.
Important BOOK! "History" is perfect title! Enjoyed almost as much as series!!!!
WOW! This is a high-minded book - very entertaining! I read it in one day! Saturday is my "tv" day but once I picked up this book on Saturday morning there was no putting it down! Years from now this will be a profound "history" of how J.K. Rowling fans spent over a decade of our lives! All Harry Potter fans should skim this book. I will give it a honored place on my bookshelf right next to the seven in the series, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them / Quidditch Through the Ages, The Tales of Beedle the Bard and my three-headed Puffy. I am from Georgia, USA, and one of the issues that Melissa writes about is Laura Mallory's quest to get the HP books banned from manifest schools in Georgia. The pages on this "quest to ban" were really surprising to me. The fact that Mrs. Mallory tries to get books banned that she has never even conclude from is an embarrassment to me as a fellow Georgian. A couple of years ago I asked a local teenager if she had read the HP books. She told me her parents would not concession for her to read them. I was shocked. I grew up watching Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie on tv and I never had a problem differentiating between pamper believe and reality. The fact that parents will deprive their children of knowing Harry Potter seems a bad loss. I have always been a Christian and I feel that HP does have a good message. Good versus Evil, dutiful friendship, family, the importance of animals in our lives, etc. - pretty much the basis of all religions. I do not see how anyone would be offended by Harry Around. The author describes her trips to different states and Britian in her attempt to learn all about the HP phenonmenon. She is friends with J. K. Rowling who presented her with a worm ring that was a copy of Queen Victoria's engagement ring. I would love to see a picture of this ring! She is also friends with many members of the talking picture cast. This is a great book - lots of insight and entertainment for under $11 - money well spent!
Not Much of a retailing
This libretto was absolutely BRUTAL. I couldn't even finish it. The title is very deceptive. Prior reviews stating that is was more about Melissa and not much about Harry Fritter away is completely accurate.I would suggest waiting for a real book about the history on Potter.

Harry Potter and the Decade That Was The Hog's Head (blog)

According to some calculations, when the clock ticks over midnight tonight, a new decade will launch and the old one close.  Not for me, though, I don’t think the new decade starts until 2011.

But since most of the world figures 2010 will start the new decade, I’ve noticed a reasonable number of stories posted over at The Leaky Cauldron on Harry Potter and its place in the last decade.  That is to say, Harry About is making a lot of end of decade lists.  I was going to post the links to some of those stories but Leaky is apparently down for maintainence exactly now.  Oh well.  Anyway, if you go over there once they’re back up, you’ll see over the last week or so many of these stories.

My question to you all this New Year’s Eve is, what do you meditate on Harry Potter’s role and place was in the last decade?  What do you think it will be in the decade to influence?  How do you measure the impact of both Harry Potter and of Joanne Rowling at this time in history?

In Harry Potter what is the Leaky Cauldron and what is maggot?

what he said...

no the leaky cauldron is the pub in london that you have to go through to get to diagon alley
and maggots are... still maggots

The Leaky Cauldron is:

maggots?

The Leaky Cauldron has already been explained. It's a magical pub in London. As for maggots, perhaps you didn't be familiar with that one could be called a "maggot" as an insult.

the leaky cauldron is some how a lettel inn and it's one way to go to digon alley.
about moggot I think u mean muggle are some people that don't have magical blood.

How did Harry Potter shake hands with Professor Quirrel in the Leaky Cauldron?

So it shows degree obviously that Quirrel can't touch Harry without being in pain. So how were they able to shake hands?

Also Quirrel must have already been posessed because there was no everything for him to travel to Albania and back before term started.
HPATSS Book 1 page: 70

"P-P-Potter," stammered Professor Quirrell, stingy Harry's hand, "c-can't t-tell you how p-pleased I am to meet you."

Hmm...perchance he was wearing gloves or something. Now that I think of it that's a very large plot hole.

I really don't identify.

I heard that in Leaky Cauldron (Harry Potter).....?

I heard that in the post Leaky Cauldron (Harry Potter) before everyone dies they get married. Ron and Hermione Harry and Ginny is that true?

What's Leaky Cauldron?

Well, did you study the 7th book? It was in the Epilogue...

Hope this helps!
