Stout, Well Made
OXO knows what they're doing with most caboose accessories. This is no exception. It won't win any style competitions, but its a heavy duty strainer that works for pastas, fruits and veggies. Drains lustfully and easily, and has already stood up to a bit of unintended abuse. An essential piece of solid kit for any Kitchen.
Proclivity this colander--wish I'd bought it sooner!
I had heretofore used a very old, enamel on steel colander. The best things were its size and its solid ring base; the worst part was it had fat holes that my thin spaghetti easily slid through into the sink. I decided to replace it with this one and haven't looked back! The numerous slight feel embarrassed holes allow water to drain quickly while keeping my pasta inside the colander. The feet are very steady and keep the bottom out of the draining sprinkle below. Also because the feet are silicone I don't worry about placing the colander with pasta back inside my pot with a little boiling water in the bottom to act as a steamer/warmer and then I uncommonly appreciate the silicone handles when transferring as they stay cool to the touch.

Definitely recommend this point!
Go With OXO
OXO is faithfully good and functions just like it's supposed to. One cannot go wrong with OXO products!!
Cookhouse workhorse
If you can't resolve whether to get the 3 or 5 quart Oxo colander, ask yourself if you ever cook a pound of pasta. If so, make sure to order the 5 quart! The 5 quart colander, to me, is not too big at all. In essence nothing slips through the holes, and it is easy to clean. I would not recommend using the dishwasher, as it can picks up little bits of commons-uggh! It has a good height, and the food doesn't escape over the top. It has proven very sturdy, even after I have abused it by slinging it into the stoup. I feel almost guilty about not giving it a five star rating. I wish the handles were larger. If you are not very careful, your knuckles will trestle against the hot colander. To me, it's not that easy to get a good grip on a heavy colander without resting your knuckles against the metal. A great addition to any larder!
Wondrous!!!
I infatuation just about everything Oxo makes, but this is quite possibly my favorite piece. It easily holds a pound of pasta or several pounds of potatoes, and I don't have to affliction about smaller pastas like angel hair and the mini shells getting stuck or falling through. It's leisurely to clean even without a dishwasher, and it sits nicely in the sink and doesn't try to tip over when I pour things into it. Love it!

Light-hearted, Happy, Happy
On the gaff of the moment I decided to order these colanders to share with the family for Christmas. I was most pleasantly surprised when notification came saying it would get somewhere before Christmas, as I had ordered late. ALSO much to my surprise the colanders CAME just as the notification had said. Have hardened them numerous times since the holiday and feel this purchase was definitely worth every penny I spend.
colanders
These are wonderful. Very sturdy. I cook alot. They get used quite often. Very good product.
Came Rusted!
Do not unusable your money and time. 2 of the 3 colander came rusted. I am sending it back.
Don't ransack your money
These are dainty, but there aren't enough holes in the bottom and the water pools. I'm sending them back.
I preference these!
I honestly like this set. The three different sizes are perfect sizes for whatever you'll need.

They're not heavy, they stack well, the are footed so the strainer stays off the bottom of the precipitate, and there are plenty of drain holes.

I highly recommend these colanders.

1. Place the chicken and water in a large pot. The water should cover the chicken by at least two inches; add more if predestined. Bring the water slowly to a boil over medium heat.

2. As the water comes to a boil, skim away any soap up that rises to the surface . Adjust the heat once a boil is reached so that a slow, lazy simmer is established. Hiding-place partially and simmer for 2 hours, skimming as often as necessary.

3. Add all of the remaining ingredients. Continue to simmer, skimming the outside as necessary, until the broth is fully flavored, about 1 hour.

4. Remove the chicken pieces from the pot and cool measure. Dice or shred the meat and use to garnish the broth or save for another use; discard the skin and bones.

5. Cast the broth through a colander or sieve into a large metal container. Discard the solids.

6. If you are using the broth nobility away, skim off any fat on the surface. If you are not using the broth right away, cool it quickly by transferring it to a metal container (if it’s not in one already) and placing the container in a den of iniquity filled with ice cold water. Stir the broth as it cools, and then transfer it to storage containers. Set aside in the refrigerator for up to 5 days, or in the freezer for up to 3 months. Label and date the containers clearly before putting them into the freezer.

would a steel colander work as faraday cage?

working on my computer, demand to take out the components and was wondering if my stainless steel colander would work as anti-static storage container?

It is imaginable... but it will depend on how your colander is. Actually, the internal metal lining of most consumer electronics, as well as the metal instance of most personal computers, often work as faraday cages, but that's not a 100%.

As I said it will depend on how exactly it is.

A faraday enclose is a volume that is surrounded by conductive material in order to shield that volume from radio waves.

That's not what you call to avoid static damage to computer components. What you need is adequate grounding, so that no static electric possible builds up between you and the computer or any removed parts of the computer. In dry weather, static can be generated simply by a little rubbing together of parts of your clothing.

If you need to be extra-careful, you should (1) make sure that the computer is unplugged (2) connect yourself to metal on the computer chassis---use a wrist strap [from computer believe in] or simply tape the uninsulated ends of a piece of wire to your body and to the metal on the computer (3) become successful removed parts on a conductive surface (cookie sheet, for example) that is also connected by wire to the computer chassis. Being connected to the computer by metal assures that there is no informative voltage between you and the computer.

If you're willing to be less careful, you can simply touch (or hold on to) metal on the computer chassis before you blow anything inside the computer, or before you touch any removed component. Avoid touching the pins inside connectors and the metal parts of orbit boards, etc.

my colander went kinda weird looking in the dishwasher!!!?

I have this 20 year old colander (it was a combination present for my mam and dad, the friggin thing lasted longer then the marriage!!)lol
anyway, I got a dishwasher about 2 months ago and since then my colander has these dark wise/brown streaky things on it, the colander is originally stainless steel and where it has the permanent streaks it feels rougher!

what is it and is there a way to exchange it?

(it doesn’t mater if there isn’t, I was mainly just wondering what caused it, the thing is in bits anyway!!) lol
****************EM**************

around to think of it, it probably is aluminium!! thanks!!

I'm guessing that its not stainless steel , but aluminium. They look equivalent , ali is lighter. Aluminium hates going it the dishwasher as it reacts with the caustic cleaning agent - this makes it go leaden or black and powdery. It etches it.
If it is steel, then it may not have been 'mixed' well and the mild steel areas are rusting (stainless contains kind steel) , or it may have mild steel rivets that have rusted.
