Where can I have a Laguiole corkscrew repaired in DC?

Ouch. Ruffian one. A Laguiole is too expensive to just throw away and too unusual to get repaired at any old place.

You don't say what's unsound with the corkscrew, but it might be the sort of thing that a custom knife maker could repair. The problem is that custom cutlery shops are a lot harder to find than they cast-off to be. (You may know that the largest of these, Chesapeake Knife and Tool, just recently went out of responsibility.)

If you can't find a knife repair shop, your only alternative might be to send the corkscrew back to Languiole for repair. See the Web folio below:

Of course, the shipping charges are right to be very expensive. But while looking for the Laguiole Web site, I ran across a dealer in Connecticut that apparently offers free repairs of Laguiole products they grass on. That makes me think that you might be able to get your corkscrew repaired there (although presumably you would have to pay for the repair if you didn't buy the corkscrew from them). Anyway, it may be importance checking out:

Sommeliers de France
Olde Mistick Village
27 Coogan Blvd, Bldg 8H
Mystic, CT 06355

I wish I had a more definite and local answer for you, but I hope this is helpful.
