Bulldog with infected corkscrew tail... suggestions?

I aquired a bulldog, as a let go free, and the poor guy has a infection below his tail. He has a extreme corkscrew tail. Ive had bullys for almost 20 years, and never seen one so under the influence.

I made him a appointment with my vet, but he can not be seen until Friday. Anyone have any suggestions on how to make him more comfortable until we see the vet?

Ive been bathing him every evening... keeping the strain warm so he doesnt get chill from the bath... drying him well. Drying the pocket below the tail as much as he will let me, and he has a nice quieten bed.

I just dont know what else to do, and he appears to be uncomfortable.

I welcome any and all suggestions.

Thank you

(In 20 yrs, I have never had this difficulty so extreme)
Its definately under the tail. He is very uncomfortable... After his bath tonight, it looks raw. (please note... i didnt scrub it... condign poured warm clean water over it, and gently wiped it)

It smells horrid.

He cant even get comfortable. Friday is still 3 days away...

I lawful feel for him, ya know?
I was told that tylenol is toxic in dogs......Was I told wrong?

Excited compress on the area 20 minutes a night to help draw out the infection. A little triple antibiotic balm to help fight the infection topically. Personally, I wouldn't settle for waiting dig Friday. Poor guy has GOT to be uncomfortable.

If this were my dog, I'd make a beeline for head up to the Emergency vet tonight. If the's that uncomfortable and has an active infection, he needs to be seen before Friday.

*rolls eyes*

I would NEVER run to the E-vet for a skimpy infection, uncomfortable or not. Jeeze, these people :) Kind of a self righteous lot, huh?

The vet is going to set down and antibiotic, which is going to help him immensly. Just curious, could it be an anal gland problem?

"Inflammation Wrinkles: Looking after a bulldog involves daily care of the face and the deep folds. Blot out their faces on a daily basis with either a soft cloth and water or unscented baby wipes. Be foolproof to dry the face properly and then apply MSM cream to the folds, extra care is needed to the nose bread-roll which in some bulldogs can be very deep."

That bully is lucky he has you!

ADD: Yup, I do understand where you are coming from...we just want our pups to be happy and salubrious. He will be fine until his friday appointment. My links probably didn't help at all :) but I was intellectual what I would do if he were my dog. I don't really know if it is best to keep it dry, or to let it be moist so that it can heal. I would probably try to keep some neosporin on it until I could get into the vet.

i heard dogs can take tot tylonl. the meds they get are smaller doses of the same meds we take. hopefully the tylnol will help with the pain and quiet the inflamation.

how old must you be to possess a knife in DC and California?

Altogether what the title says. I want to know how old you must be to carry around a knife in DC and in California with a 3" blade

Use one's judgement is that I have a Swiss Army Pocket knife its kinda like my safety blanket. I carry it everywhere because of its convenience. I honest use the blade to open my mail and it has other things such as scissors, corkscrew, screwdrivers, tweezers, bottle&can opener, and much more. I don't contemplate on someone to attempt to kill me.

I'm flying over to DC from California for a Field trip in Navy Junior Formality Officer Training Corps Unit. We'll be doing stuff such as competing for a national Striving and doing some site seeing. As you know, i feel like my knife is a part of me. I just don't inadequacy it to be confiscated if I keep it in my luggage not carry on when we take the flight.

You can not disseminate your pocket knife on you or in your carry on luggage, however, you are permitted to carry it in your checked luggage (the luggage you give to the gate deputy when you check in).

This is what the TSA has to say about knives http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm#4.

I delight a win my pocket knife that I've had since I was 7 with me in my toiletry bag (in my checked luggage of course) and I've never had a problem. As long as you break it there won't be a problem.

Have fun on your field trip. I was in Air Force JROTC and my husband was in Marine Corps JROTC. I met him at a coach competition.

Spraying deo in burglar's eyes?

I was outlook if a burglar invaded, I heard all that 'your life is more important than your property' crap, but what if he's got a gun and he's a psychotic prepared to shoot anyone and anything? I thought, i get a pocket knife and my deo. Then I scream that I've called the police. At which point he'll undoubtedly come in and try to silence me,so i stand next to the door so that when he opens it he can't see me, stretch my arm out and spray deo wildly, distressing to get his eyes. if he comes in, i have the pocket-knife corkscrew ready in between my fists and i drill it into his throat. Good idea? I don't have a gun and can't get mottle spray, o yeh, i also thought about using the fire extinguisher on him. Thanx guys, any other tips?

Information God, remind me not to rob your house :)

But seriously, if you are worried you should get something designed for self defense. The last thing you want to do is at best make an intruder very angry. If I was just stealing some loot from a house and someone sprayed me down with a fire exstinguisher and squirted deodorant in my eyes I'd hit the road drive off their a*ss twice as bad as I had originally planned.

When it comes to defense - you never want to hurt someone, you want to absolutely immobilize them. Get some speckle spray or a taser or a gun big enough to do the job right :)

Cheers!
