Modest and quick
I use this virtually every day...it's fantastic and easier to clean than most presses. Highly recommend it!
Wonderful Easy Smooshing
I don't have a outstanding deal of strenghth in my hands - no real problems, just kind of a weakling. But you really don't demand to be Hercules with this goody. I just halve or quarter the garlic cloves, throw them in the hopper and smooosh - out comes nicely minced garlic. Also, as many other reviewers have said, the have a role that lets you push out the last of the garlic is very nice. I'm very happy with this easy to use, easy to clean tool.
Noble kitchen gadget!!
Mead and simple, this garlic press works, GREAT!! It's heavy duty, easy to clean, and you can squash those speck cloves without peeling them!! I love it!!
Superlative Garlic Press
This Oxo Stainless Blade Garlic Press is just the best press I've ever used. There may be others that are superior but I have never used them. I've managed to damage or break every garlic press we've ever owned which is why I went searching for a exceedingly sturdy one. After browsing the selection on Amazon.com I decided to get the Oxo as it looked to be the most sturdy at a tolerable price piece of advice. I must admit it was one of my better decisions on kitchen tools.

It's not 100% anti-me as I've successfully managed to come out in off 4 of the plastic teeth on the built-in cleaning/clearing pad. the metal parts however show absolutely no sign of harm, stress or fatigue. I pressed some garlic this morning for a spread and it works as well as the day it arrived. To me this means quality. It continues to aim and function well, as advertised and shows no signs of giving out now or any time in the future. If for some reason which I can't think of this would ever crack I would buy another one without hesitation.
Zealous product
Tremendous product--easily mashes several cloves of garlic at once and easy to clean. Quality construction. I am a woman with rather small hands and poor hand/upper body strength, but I find this easy to use.

Must be mastery ones out there
I do like that this press can include 2-3 cloves and is easy to squeeze. I don't like the fact that much of the garlic is wasted (doesn't go through the holes) and that it's very trying to clean---the rubber nibs just don't do the job and you have to dig it out with a knife.
Not recommended, hold with the Zyliss
I bought this based on the promotion from Cooks Illustrated to replace my trusty Zyliss press. With the Zyliss, you can press the garlic with the skin on and it is easy to clean. The self-cleaner on this one gets all gunked up and you necessary to peel the garlic first. Skip this press and get the Zyliss.
unbearable, hard to use
I purchased this merchandise based on the Cooks' Illustrated review. I really dislike it. Sometimes I have to use two hands to squeeze the garlic. It is very heavy. My old press was lighter and relaxed to press, but the finish was damaged by washing it in the dishwasher. I miss it. I dislike this press enough that I will likely buy a new one and donate this one to good will. I have owned it for about 1 year. Aside from the teeth on the back of the press allowing for easier cleaning I don't see what there is to like about this press.
Halt away from it
Bought this press as it was #2 at Evaluate Kitchen. Had it about 2 years til it broke the other night. Part of the hinge assembly literally broke off the body as I was squeezing the garlic. This is chrome plated zinc. The zinc not smelly enough to take continual use. We go through a lot of garlic in our cooking. This press replaced the Zyliss in which the non-stick coating wore away exposing the unmask metal underneath the coating. This was the same problem Test Kitchen had with theirs, and the reason they tested again to find a replacement. So sojourn away from both the Trudeu and Zyliss presses unless you want to be buying replacements about every 2 years. Very let down in both of them.
garlic press shattered into 4 pieces
The garlic press worked for 1.5 years although altogether large pieces as review on America's Test Kitchen stated. While preparing a veggie stir fry this evening it shattered into several pieces absolutely ruining the dinner and I had to throw the meal away. The garlic was fresh and quite moist, it appears that the press suffered metal weakness at the hinge. Quite disappointing.

How do you use a garlic press?

I recently was affirmed a garlic press, but I don't know how to use it. Help!

To use a garlic press, first peel your garlic cloves, then employment them into the garlic press and press. That's all there is to it.

To peel garlic cloves, press the individual cloves with the flat side of a broad knife. This will loosen the papery husk which can then be easily removed

Peel the garlic and cut it into smaller chunks. Put in the garlic press. Holding the handles like scissors, girlfriend handles together firmly to squish the garlic. The garlic that remains in the little basket can me scraped from the press and added to the garlic that was squeezed through the press.

put garlic in the press and press it .

take a peeled clove of garlic and geezer it in the hole and squeze the handles and there u go

Peel the garlic clove and put it in. Then press the handles together. If it is a fitting press, you'll get some pulp and juice. If its a cheapy like I used to have, the handles will bend.

buy a bulb of garic, split it into cloves, put the clove veneer and all, into the press and sqeeze. Use the fresh garlic just like you would use dehydrated, or jar garlic, but be careful, fresh garlic is more potent

Can you put ginger through a garlic press?

Ok, I'm not very well-disposed at mincing things real tiny, I'm not good at wielding any knife larger than a paring pierce, and I'm not even really good with that. Can I put fresh ginger through a garlic press to make it small enough for a stir-fry I was thinking about making this week? Any opinion would be greatly appreciated! Thank you everyone in advance!

P.S. If you have a really good stir-fry recipe you'd like to dole out, that'd be awesome!!!

Ginger is very ropy, so a garlic press is not advisable. Unless you only want the moisture content.
Grating the ginger is the method that I use, and the tastiest way to raise a stir-fry dish.

Do you know of any garlic press, came across the Henckels brand? Is it good? Rosle is $60 in Sherway Gardens.?

The Rosle name brand claims to press garlic even with the peel on, am looking something easy to use, clean, long-lasting.

I have one from Pampered Chef that is very scrupulous. You can also press with the peel still on. Only thing is that you have to order it, unless you know someone who sells Pampered Chef who has one on hand. Here's a connect:
