Stuff b merchandise Large Sized Garlic Press
I've employed many garlic presses over the years and this one has stood the test of time. Pros - this large press does press several cloves of garlic at one then and it truly is dishwasher safe (no rust after years of dishwashing cycles). Cons - I have limited hands and find the handles are not as ergonomic or comfortable as some other presses. Overall, this is a good press for large garlic pressing jobs. I have found it's a chaste value for the cost. I've had mine about 12 years now and it's as good as new. I know a lot of people like the plastic thingy that gets garlic out of the holes, but a timely rinse just after use has been working just fine.
Not self-cleaning -- a big beat-waster
If you're prevalent to use a garlic press, it should be self-cleaning. Otherwise, you're going to spend forever cleaning out the garlic residue from the crushing compartment. That's the in the event that with this RSVP press. Even putting it in the dishwasher doesn't solve the problem. I got tired of handcleaning it so much that it was easier to ethical crush garlic by hand. I eventually threw it out and bought an Oxo self-cleaning press. I'm happy now.

Quiet to clean and works!
I didn't have the courage of one's convictions pretend the 'peeling unnecessary' claim until I tried it out. It actually worked for me. I love the plastic cleaning cat's-paw that comes with it. It makes cleanup a snap. With my old press I had to use a toothpick to individually clean out every hole. This does it in one light motion and there's a scraper that will get any leftovers from the sides. Very well designed. I don't understand the complaints of it requiring too much strength. If you don't overfill it and your garlic doesn't have a hardened outside you should be fine. One does have to apply common sense no matter how well something is designed.
Much too callous to press
I had an older, tiny Zyliss press that worked just fine but finally gave up the ghost. Ordered this based on the artistic reviews (crossed my fingers and ignored the few not so great reviews). I am a woman with average hands and guts (please don't ask me to define average), but pressing a clove of garlic through this thing was a real workout. First, it is a rather large press so getting your care nearby(s) around it for good leverage is a stretch. I tried it with peeled and unpeeled garlic. I snipped off the garlic tips. I cut the garlic in half. I put only one clove in at a constantly. Still, it required a huge effort for me to press the garlic through. Called my husband and, although he could manage it, he, too, thought it was much too hard and uncomfortable to grapple with with. Not sure why there is such a difference of opinion on how easy/tough this is to use, but I am going to purchase something smaller and hope for the paramount.

Very edible press, with one flaw and one caveat.

PROs:
-- very even crush
-- little mess while crushing
-- decent leverage
-- economical

FLAW:
-- the coating begins to flake off after a while (how long with depend on use), but it didn't hinder the function of the press for me

CAVEAT:
-- clearing peels from the crushing niche after use requires digging them out; this really slows you down if you crush large batches

BOTTOM LINE:
I now use a Kuhn Rikon Intemperate Garlic Press and it is much better for pressing batches of garlic: the flip-out grate makes clearing the press quick and easy with rightful a swipe of your finger (much easier than having to dig the peels out of the crushing chamber on the Zyliss). But if you usually only miss to crush a clove or two (one pressing), then the Kuhn Rikon Epicurean looses it's big advantage. If you can live with that caveat, the Zyliss does a outdo job for less.
It Works
The Zyliss is a well turned out gadget to have around in the kitchen. It works well, even with large garlic cloves. In fact, you can fit a few of them in and it still works like a charm.

The only exasperation is that the tiny pieces of garlic pulp can get stuck in the tiny holes, and they can be hard to get out even if you use the cleaner that's provided.
Acclaim WOMEN!
If you have customary sized hands and normal hand strength, you are going to be very disappointed with this product. It takes a lot of convenient strength to squeeze even a medium size clove through this sucker. I tried clipping off the end of the clove. Didn't alleviate. Very disappointed. I loved my 20 year old Zyliss garlic press until it gave up the ghost. I think this one is simply too wide. Might be great for men with meathook hands, but not for us regular-sized folk.
