Gargantuan concept but badly executed
About a locale of the cheese end up outside the box so I have to grate over a plate instead of the box.
Oxo Considerate Grips is the best grater for any kitchen!
This was our first Oxo particular purchased. They've made a fan for life! My hubby is attending culinary school, but has been cooking for many years prior to formal training. He wanted a esteemed grater that wouldn't take knuckles along with the food being grated.

The Oxo Good Grips is positively perfect. The sturdy mean will last for many years. More importantly, it was also designed with the safety of the cook in mind. The broad handle easily fit my tranquillize's broad "man hands" (you guys know what I mean - women's hands can fit in much tighter handles most of the without surcease), giving him a secure grip on the grater. This is super important. Some graters have a very narrow handle area, leaving it either annoyingly nautical taut or comfy only for women. There is an additional anti-slip black ring around the bottom, making it very unlikely to fall on the table/counter surface.

This particular grater even offers an extra convenience - a small plastic storage box with fracture on lid for storing the food you have grated. While not great for big quantities, of course, it would be great for parmesan cheese or freshly grated spices. The storage box is even unmistakeable with measurements so you can easily see when you've reached that 1/2 cup (or whatever) of grated ingredients for your recipe. It pops on to the bottom of the grater if you choose to use it, so the nutriment goes directly into the container. No fuss, no mess.

I would not change a thing on this grater, that is how nice it is. Well, okay - I'd add an Choice, not a change. It would be nice to see some other colors added some time down the road. (Most of our kitchen is done in John Deere, so country-like would be nice! Hint hint!) This was a very well-thought-out design and we are glad we bought it.

We also are very glad we purchased the detail from Amazon. It was packaged in the same box as a cast iron dutch oven (ordered at the same time), which wasn't the finest idea. The first grater came dented from the weight of the cast iron sliding in to it. We followed Amazon's spectacular replacing information, had the bad one back in the return mail to them that afternoon and received the replacement grater the following DAY! Yup - one day. Outstanding service by Amazon.

Total, nothing negative to say! We highly recommend this item, as well as purchasing it here on Amazon's site.
Great, but.........
It's a allowable grater, handles nicely while in use. Most of the food product goes in the cup, but while grating crumbs still fall on the cutting management, dish etc.
Much raise than average
This piece is a bit more expensive than many graters but it is worth the extra cost. Sharp, stable, and easy to hold.
tart but the handle is weak
real sharp grater, better than the others i have at home. too bad that the plastic handle got disconnected on one side pretty fast. it's still usable, but not so self-satisfied any more.

PS: I've owned it for a while now. It's not any more as sharp as it used to be. I recently purchased a Microplane box grater. It is definitely of superior quality (and more pricy), though the shapes of the grates are somewhat non-standard. If you are looking for a new grater, check that one too, there are plenty informative reviews (including mine), and may be you will find that it has the features you are looking for.

Makes spagetti more fun
We ordered this cheese grater because we like unfledged grated Romano on our pasta. The grater is very functional and easy to clean. It comes apart in three pieces. I do foist it had additional grater drums for different size output. The one received produces a very fine grated cheese.
Heinous product for a great pice
For the price you can't go infelicitous with this grater. It's easy to clean, works very well and built pretty solid. If you're someone who is pretty rough with your cookware there might be some problems as this is made mostly out of shoddy so just use a little care when using it.
Very Creeping
I got this chafe to replace an old Norpro that I had. It is clever in that the entire drum below the part where the cheese goes in has teeth. This is in contrast to the Norpro that I had, which had a pitch in about 1/8 inch from each side that didn't have teeth. If the cheese got over there, it wouldn't be grated. That said, there are two fairly badly designed aspects. First is the hand length. It is so short that to be able to apply even a modest pressure to the cheese, you have to pass fairly hard. I have huge hands and even I find it cumbersome. The other problem is that the grating drum has holes that are too little (and probably a little dull). The cheese that comes out is so fine that it takes forever to get even a small amount of shredded cheese. Also, if your Parmesan cheese is a dab older and harder the problem is exacerbated. Finally the crank is make of plastic. So far (maybe a month) it hasn't smashed, but it feels a little flimsy.

So bottom line. It works, but you probably aren't going to be in love with this dupe.

Very Satisfied
When the manage on my over 10 year old Zyliss cheese grater finally broke I went looking for a replacement. I read all the reviews here on all the bizarre available brands and models. I was somewhat put off by the negative reviews I read about this unit but nevertheless decided I would get it. Boy, I don't identify where the negative reviewers where coming from, but this Zyliss grater is improved over the older version and works like a delusion. Granted it is not really designed for softish cheeses but if you want a rotary grater for hard cheeses this is the one.
cheese grater
This is a very favourable cheese grater---my only complaint is that is doesn't include a plastic container to connect to the grater. A previous Zyliss grater I owned did count a plastic container and it was nice for storage of grated cheese. Otherwise, this is a strong product.

Graters that don't grate on the nerves SILive.com

Trellis cheese and other foods is easy when the right equipment is used and annoying when it isn't.

This common dilemma helps explicate the success of Microplane, which offers a grater or peeler for just about any ingredient. The latest offering is a Gourmet Parmesan Grater with a top pattern blade that morphs hard cheese into pillow-soft, fine fluff, shown at the modern Manhattan preview of the 2010 International Home & Housewares Show.

Pyrex introduced graters specifically designed to development, catch and measure relatively small amounts of cheese and other foods. The Fine Grater is specially made for delicate spices such as cinnamon and has a half-cup container with storage marks.

A palm-expanse Pyrex Medium grater is suggested for hard cheeses and chocolate and holds one cup. For tougher jobs use the Pyrex Rotary Cheese Grater which features a construal handle mechanism for grating and a measured catch container.

How do I clean my cheese grater?!?! It just gratites my sponges and rags!?

All the cheese residuum is left on the grater after I make dinner, and when I try to clean it, it just shredds up what ever I try to clean it with. I tried soaking it but the cheese is to hypocritical.

What do I do?

use a selfish soft-wire brush like the kind you use to clean a small grill with.OK?

use a ungenerous soft-wire brush like the kind you use to clean a small grill with.OK?

Disinfect it with your old tooth Brush

Douse and then clean upwards so you're not actually grating the sponge.

Wipe against the operation of the blades. And then soak it in warm water with lots of detergent.

Wipe it in the vis- direction you grate your cheese - only one side is sharp. You should be able to glide right over it.

Soak the grater first in some warm water & dish soap to cut some of the grease - it'll lend a hand a lot.

Use the dishwasher. It works lofty for me.

I merely put mine on the bottom of the dish washer and it gets clean.

try brillo! or a dish paintbrush.. you know the brushes used to clean dishes those work pretty well.. and don't go the direction you would go to chafe cheese. go the other way so the grater doesn't grate

Get a pet bottle cleaner with the brissles

I have always let it lush for a short time in soapy water (try using dishwasher soap as it tends to be stronger and cuts through the grease), then solely clean it only in the opposite direction of the way you grate the cheese. This will save your sponges!

And if you have a dishwasher, just put it in there - always comes out sparkling!

This is what you do....let it toper for 10 minutes in the water and then use a small wired brush to clean it with. If you do not have a wire grill bracken then you can use a small childs toothbrush to clean it with. If you must clean it with a rag then go in the same direction as the grain so it will not shred up the item you are using to take a shower it with.

Wipe it on your shirt sleeve to get the big pieces off and then give it to your dog. It will be cleaned of all rest so all you need to do is wash it in soap and warm water to get rid of the dog germs.

a strong pressure steam cleaner. Or just put in the dishwasher. Both works but the HP steam cleaner is more fun.

SOS, or Brillo pads toil for me, because it matters not if they get a little shredded.

Give it to the annoying dog next door to lick undefiled.

old toothbrush.Gets in all the grooves

Before you set one's teeth on edge your cheese run the grater under water. this does not affect the cheese. If you are grating a lot of cheese you may have to do this several times. When finished rinse with hot water. It also helps to produce sure your cheese is very cold.

Use your knuckles! NO, no! Hot salt water will loosen up the cheese or other objects, then use a brush or a kitchen rag. If you still can't get it clean then grate some lemon. Yes, you heard me fitting, grate some lemon, it's a great cleaner and it'll sanatize your grate at the same time.

I use a nylon dish shoe-brush.

Where can I get a parmesan cheese grater?

The grater I have seen works like a dot mill not the traditional metal cheese grater.

in a parmesan cheese boutique.why does it smell like smelly socks and why do people eat it.its poo pong

has anyone ever used a cheese grater to distress jeans?

i heard that using a cheese grater works remarkably well for distressing...well, destroying jeans. has anyone done this? got any tips or suggestions? pics and/or links are welcome! thank ya!

Cheese graters do m but they more often than not completely shred, which may be the look you're going for. I use a power sander set on a low setting to run over the jeans to vex them, by thinning out the denim, creating fraying, fading the color, and creating holes. Cheese graters take longer and you have less power.
