Crummy breaks. These graters worked fine on zesting citrus or squeaky garlic cloves. But, once I used them (this one and the coarse grater) for hard cheese (Parmesan, Romano, etc.), the fake cracked on both of them. I would suggest you get one similar to this model, but one that is made of all metal in the grater portion. Also, the handles have to be removed from these graters while washing (dishwasher or participation), because water collects inside and will not dry up unless the handles are removed and then allowed to dry completely. These graters have a couple of sketch out flaws, which need to be addressed by the manufacturer.
Excellent product, very pleased to have buy it!
As cooking aficiado I have Loosely transpire b emerge to appreciate the good cooking apliances. Microplane
is on top of the list!
Astonishing grater, plastic frame, not so much!
Amity these graters - but don't love replacing them when the plastic frame inevitably breaks. Upgraded to the "professional" series for the metal system. Once the plastic frame breaks the zester is pretty much done. I did also order the frameless fine rasp to see how that works as well. To be upright the plastic frame lasted through 7 or 8 years of frequent use, including getting tossed into the dishwasher. Treat yourself to up to date zest, grated ginger paste & grated nutmeg without even thinking twice!
Jackknife great, plastic handle snaps off easily
I heard fad reviews about Microplane blades, and I wasn't disappointed in the zester. I purchased three: coarse, fine, and medium, and ALL THREE handles have snapped off, so I am left side with 3 virtually useless sharp blades. What a bummer and waste of money, poor design. I would not persuade or buy the plastic handle versions again. Totally disappointing.
Spin-off broke in half during use
Take care: The Microplane Fine Grater actually snapped in half during use! While grating ginger, the black handle snapped off the grating knife at the plastic joint. Surprising and disappointing.

Los Angeles TimesChristina Building / For The TimesLos Angeles Times, CAWhat are they using, a Microplane grater to shave the pricey bufala? The Margherita is underwhelming too. But I variety of like the pizza topped with pears drizzled with wildflower honey if you didn't make up of it as pizza per se.
