I've lived in USA for 30 years.
Merely said, you need a Daikon Oroshi Ki (a special grator for Daikon Oroshi).
No American grator will do the job, era. Regardless of how fine it is made.
Daikon Oroshi Ki is not expensive. (If is's made of plastic. Procelain one is expensive.)
Go to a Japanese grocery peach on or super market if you live near one. And ask for Daikon Oroshi Ki.
i have a means that requires me to use lemon zest
the problem is i dont have a zester, nor do i want to go out and buy a zester
i have a grater, will that achieve the same effect?
and what is the difference?
the grater is commendable, and it also makes the grater smell a lot better if there was once some old cheese in there. you can also use a potato peeler, or a plain knife will work also if you want to take the peel and chop it up into diminutive pieces. this releases more of the flavor than grating i have found

Passion for Food: Winter can't chill citrus appeal Speaking of tools, if you like using ginger in recipes, a micro-plane zester/grater is wonderful to have. It makes quick work of going after the outer layer of citrus peel needed in recipes. This rigour tool leaves behind the more bitter white pith. |
