Why would a product ie.cheese grater that's advertised as being made of stainless steel go rusty?

Keep in be cautious of that even "stainless" steel isn't rust-proof. The nature of that particular type of steel is such that the fa is usually made resistent to rust, but the interior of the item is usually standard-grade steel (as it's cheaper than making the unimpaired object out of stainless steel).

If your cheese grater was poorly cleaned, or else if the surface was scratched or otherwise damaged, rusting could then come to pass naturally.

The drink up has been scratched or it has come in contact with corrosive chemicals.

er.. cos its stainless dirk not rustless steel?
sorry i know i am dumb and childish.

It is twopenny and made of tin and not steel.

I've noticed that. And yet stainless blade cutlery doesn't rust. Hmmmmmmmm......

Its a cunning expect by the health authorities to get more iron into your diet!

Cheese graters are not ineluctably reliably manufactured, or even manufactured to a standard. The use of Stainless Steel as a descriptor is not reliably enforced in, oh, say ... China.

scanty quality workmanship and poor grade steel
not being nationlist or anything but need to get the guys from sheffield to receive the stuff it is/ was/ and always will be the best stailess steel ever made

It may be a wide-ranging generalisation - things are, perhaps, just rust proofish - unbreakable mainsprings can be broken, decaffeinated coffee contains caffeine.

Dishwashers! All of my so-called right quality cutlery is all pock marked and is going rusty.
Hand wash only.
Cheese graters aren't almost always brilliant quality at the best of times....

I'd like to ask what brand of rotary cheese grater would you recommend?

Am undecided with using the stainless stiffen ones with the regular plastic ones. Although good brands made in plastic am unsure whether they would last long. Also am liberal-handed but would prefer a brand that can be use by left and right hand.

I inamorata my Zyliss. It's plastic, but sturdy enough I swear I could shred a rock.

Help me find those CHEESE GRATERS from about 20 years ago?

My parents had this cheese grater that was ALL Stainless Appropriate, suction mount, and various SS drums that cut the cheese in a rotary fashion. It was probably manufactured in the 70's or original 80's and for the life of me I can't find one to buy like it. Let me know where i can find one.

Try looking at an old mall or store in your area. You'd be surprised what types of kitchen items are collected and you might stubble across the grater you are looking for. I have recaptured many items I memorialize from my Grandmother's kitchen just by taking a day and going through an antique mall. It might be worth the trip.
