How big of a floating hinge do you need for paninis?

All the George shopwalker grills I've seen so far say they have a 1-inch floating hinge, and I've also looked at other griddles/grills, which do not specify hinge measure assess. Is 1 inch enough for paninis, or should I look for one that opens wider?

1 in to 2 in is what I was told when I was addicted mine. But before that I used a grill pan and a cast iron one to get the same result. Worked just great til I got one as a gift. For slews production I use my old method and my new panini press, but you dont need one to make a good panini.

If you have a microwave, try this. Rooms 4 white paper towels on a microwave-safe plate. Put bacon on top, with a little space between slices. Go up in the world 2-3 white paper towels on top. Microwave approximately 45 seconds per slice. Sack immediately from paper towels. Delicious and quick. Also doesn't shrink as much as cooking in a skillet.
