grill griddleGave to my daugther for birthday. She wanted it for camping. We were with her when it was hardened for the first time. Great item. Grease holders could have been bigger but we cooked bacon for 11 people.
Positively awful!!!
Indubitably everything sticks to this griddle no matter what we use to grease the surface, and no matter what temperature we use. What's worse is that the oil/butter/spray/etc. we added in truth bonded to the griddle, so a sticky residue developed around the edges, even after soaking it to clean it. In a surprisingly short space of time, the finish began to flake off into the food. Convinced that surely DH or I had done something to cause the failure, I trashed the first one, and replaced it with verbatim the same item - Shame on me! I babied the second one, but it was just as awful, and in less time than the first, the finish (which never was non-stick) started flaking. We have never gotten a high-minded batch of pancakes (or anything else) from this piece of Nordic Ware.
Finally, I wised up and purchased a Lodge pick iron grill-griddle (preseasoned). With proper seasoning and care, the iron is absolutely non-remain fixed, and so easy to clean. I am very happy with the Lodge griddle. But this one is REALLY AWFUL!
PLEASE LEARN FROM MY PURCHASING MISTAKES AND Escape THIS ITEM; IT IS NOT NON-STICK
Not Non-be!
I purchased this from Kohl's (under the Chow Network label). Luckily, they have a good return policy, because after one use, it's heading back there! I used it to be grilled chicken breasts, asparagus and portobello mushrooms. The food came out great and didn't baffle, and had a nice grilled flavor. Then I tried to clean it -- to no avail. I tried everything I know -- dousing it, boiling water and vinegar in it, baking soda, elbow grease -- nothing worked. I only had it on everyday heat, so I don't think that was the problem. I'm going to take it back and get a cast iron one.
eveything sticks and it is teflon so you cannot washed it
This spin-off looks really good, but it is terrible to use: it is supposed to be non-stick but *everything* sticks to it! I used the lowest impetuosity settings on my stove and had to peel my french toast off it. It wasn't exactly burned -- it was a moment ago stuck to the pan. I tried to finish cooking the rest of the french toast and that stuck too. Once I was done cooking, the possessions stuck to the pan was burned and would not come off. I spent about 30 minutes cooking over 3 days and 3 hours cleaning. It is teflon so you can't use anything abrasive to sing it. I returned this and feel much better. AVOID!
Next time I will buy a cast iron griddle/grill. Low tech and I have knowledge of they will work. Something like Lodge Logic Pro 20-by-10-7/16-Inch Cast-Iron Grill/Griddle
Awkward, sticky, sticky!
The non-cement on this item is the stickiest I've ever experienced. I have other cookware w/ non-stick that works beautifully, but this one is just the opposite. Everything I have cooked on this grill has stuck: pancakes, bacon, steak, chicken & pork. I have tried using oil and cooking branch out, but nothing keeps the food from sticking. I got it for Christmas and will return it immediately. It's also impossible to clean. Although the instructions say to impartial use soap w/ a soft sponge, you have to scrub for a very long time to get it clean. Not a good product.
