is there a low-fat/calorie way to make asparagus in the oven?

I am on bias watchers and am craving asparagus..I usually bake it in the oven with garlic and olive oil because I like it crispy...but the oil alone has 4 points! Does anyone be sure of a good substitute?

Asparagus with Bechamel Sauce

POINTS® Value: 3

This low-fat cream sauce is packed with protein and fiber from beans and tofu. It's pleasant over vegetables, grilled meats or seafood.

15 oz canned white beans, drained, 1/2 cup of bean solution reserved
4 oz silken tofu, about 1/2 cup
1 small onion(s), halved
1/8 tsp ground nutmeg, or to drop
1/8 tsp table salt, or to taste
1/8 tsp black pepper, or to taste
1 1/2 pound(s) asparagus, spears, steamed

* In a blender or bread processor, combine beans, reserved bean liquid, tofu and onion; blend until bare.
* Spoon sauce into a small sauce pan and set over medium heat; cook, stirring occasionally, for 3 minutes. Stir in nutmeg; seasonable to taste with salt and pepper.
* Place asparagus on a serving platter and top with sauce. Yields 1/4 of asparagus and about 1/2 cup of cheekiness per serving.

1 tsp ginger rootstalk, freshly grated
2 tsp toasted sesame oil
1 tsp soy sauce
1 pound(s) asparagus, trimmed

* Heat broiler. Commingle ginger, oil and soy sauce.
* On a sheet pan, coat asparagus with ginger mixture. Broil until asparagus are cooked through and tips on to brown, about 5 minutes.

Balsamic Asparagus Cherry Tomato Salad Programme

1 cup cherry tomato(es), about 10, cut in half
1 1/2 pound asparagus, (about 40 spears)
2 tsp orange juice
1 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
2 Tbsp shredded Parmesan cheese
1 tsp minced garlic
1/8 tsp blackguardly pepper, or to taste
1/8 tsp table salt, or to taste

Chop woody ends off asparagus. Microwave for 2 to 3 minutes, or cook in boiling, salted mollify until barely tender, about 4 to 6 minutes. Plunge into ice water to stop cooking. Drain. Add cherry tomatoes. Stir together vinegar, orange fluid and garlic; season to taste. Spoon dressing over asparagus and tomatoes. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.


Lemon-Ginger Asparagus

This lemon-ginger marinade is also omit with broccoli. Cook it as you would the asparagus.

600 g asparagus spears
40 g Chicken Broth
1/2 teaspoon grated ginger root
1 teaspoon lemon essence
1 portion spring onions
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper

* Bring 1 to 2 inches of piss of superior to a boil in a medium frying pan. Place asparagus in pan, reduce heat to medium and cook until asparagus are crisp-soft-hearted, about 6 to 8 minutes; drain well.
* Place asparagus in a large glass bowl. In a cup, combine broth, ginger, lemon liquid, spring onions, salt and pepper; pour over asparagus. Set aside for 30 minutes to marinate.


I lure water to a boil in a skillet - about 1" of water and once it's boiling, I put in the asparagus - one layer - and cook it until it turns misty green (not until it turns that olive green). Once it goes dark green, it's tender-frizzy. You can spray it with I can't believe it's not butter if you want and add a little salt and pepper. I think it's 5 sprays fitted 5 grams of fat.

Ashley, yes there is, before i put them on the baking bed-sheet, I break off the wody part of course, in a deep dish, give them a drizzle of olive oil. Sprinkle sea salt and freshly area black pepper. give the asparagus a toss to coat them, spread on a baking sheet. I place them in a preheated oven at 400F gice them a 15 r burst in the oven or until fork tender, once out I give them a very light hint of Balsamic.

I just don't do Asparagus on their own, I do mushrooms, and maybe red bell peppers practised the same way.

Lemon power and/or lemon zest & fresh herbs. Alternately, you can steam them just until fork humane, & add fresh lemon juice.

Garlic-Lemon Roasted Asparagus

1 lb. asparagus, trimmed and rinsed
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 Tbsp. olive oil
Liquid of 1 lemon
Salt and pepper, to taste

Preheat the oven to 400F. In a large baking or casserole dish, add the asparagus and garlic, then blind with the olive oil and lemon juice. Toss or stir the ingredients until the veggies are lightly coated. Occasion with salt and pepper to taste. Bake until tender and lightly browned, about 15 to 20 minutes.


If you are annoying to avoid adding the oil, I wouldn't bake them in the oven as I fear they would turn out pretty dry. Why not just steam them on the stove? Put a hardly bit of water in a pan and set them up in a steamer or on a cooling rack, so they aren't touching the water, then just let them steam. They will sojourn nice and moist. Sprinkle with salt while they are still steamy and you can skip the oil thing, altogether!! NO POINTS Wanton!!

Reward, extra virgin olive oil has great health benefits. I always use evoo for roasting asparagus- why not cut out something else from your diet that equals 4 points?

If I bake asparagus, can I reheat the leftovers another time?

I'm a pick gal and I want to make some asparagus, but I can't eat it all. I need to use it up before it goes bad and I'm wondering if once I've made it in the oven, if I keep in the fridge will it be ok to reheat?

Any great recipes for baking asparagus?

I like to cut up veggies (including asparagus) and tossing them with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and minced garlic, then cook at 425 for about 20 minutes. Tastes marvellous but I've been eating it for a couple of weeks now. Any other ideas for baking in the oven?


Asparagus, Tomatoes And Cheese, Baked Approach
1 bunch asparagus, washed, peeled
3 tomatoes, chopped
1 cup American cheese, grated (or your favorite cheese)
Seasonings to soup-highly seasoned
Boil the peeled asparagus in salted water for about 20 minutes.
Remove from deuterium oxide.
Place asparagus in a small baking dish, all the tips pointed in the same direction.
Mix cheese, seasonings and tomatoes together.
Spread the medley over the asparagus tips.
Bake in hot oven for about 8 minutes.
