what's the best way to bake a sweet potato so that its soft?
May 19, 2008 by Malika | Posted in Cooking & Recipes
the last all at once my boyfriend baked a sweet potato, he simply wrapped it in aluminum foil and it came out hard as a brick. what is the superior way to bake them so that they are soft?
Rub some vegetable oil or vegetable shortening on the derma before wrapping it in foil. Pierce the potato to that it doesn't explode, wrap in foil and bake at 350F (Gas Mark 4) for at least 55 minutes.

the way i eat it - chop it up, steam it in slightly salted water and mash it, yum yum yum
push holes in the potatoe before you wrap it in foil... coat the potatoe with a little olive oil... let it bake a extended time on lower heat... sounds like he had it on too high heat and didnt bake it dream of enough

I cook mine in microwave safely plastic wrap. poke some holes to vent steam. And cook. It comes out very soft.

Dont do it in the microwave
Always use an oven
Longer sometimes at a lower temperature rather than short and high

I like to cut it up into two-dimensional-ish chunks, then marinade them in olive oil and fresh-chopped rosemary. Then I bake them in the oven for twenty to thirty minutes. They total out so delicious! They're light and crisp on the outside, smooth on the inside and the rosemary goes really well!

box some holes in it, put it on a paper plate and put it in the microwave. i'm not sure how long....mine has a potato setting.
i'd say prob. 5-7 minutes would answer.

border a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
rub or brush olive oil on sweet potatoes and place on baking layer.
cook at 400 for at least one hour. check for doneness, if not soft leave in another fifteen minutes.

Put it in the oven until it's spongy, sweetie. I do it all the time. Takes around an hour. And yes I am talking about sweet potatoes.
Why is everyone giving you potato recipes? I thought you well-deserved wanted to bake it til it's soft. Seriously you don't need olive oil or a knife or tin foil. Just wash it, put the constituent in the oven right on the rack and bake it at like 400 and squeeze it every now and then to see how soft it has become.

NEVER USE Thwart!!! heat your oven to 425, clean the potato and poke holes in it with a fork and leave it in there for about an hour, presently on the rack. the skin will be crispy and the inside will be soft, almost like mashed potatoes. if you really after a good recipe cup it into very think slices and pan fry then in a little bit of extra virgin olive oil or vegetable oil and survive chips :)

It sounds like he did not bake it for desire enough. I have never had a problem baking them it does take a while to bake them though. I don't ever use foil though. You might also do it in the microwave like a regluar potato...make sure you harass a fork into it for ventilliation and then put in microwave for the same amount of time as for a potato...if not soft then but it back in for a little bit longer until it is cooked and soft.

They don't for to bake as long as a regular potato.... I spray them with buttery PAM, and sprinkle with a little salt, poke some holes in them, and put them on an aluminum pie pan in 375-400 oven for about 40 min. They'll start "oozing" and you'll skilled in they're done:) ...... and don't every microwave ANY potatoes! They taste strange, and have a "gluey" texture
TX2step | May 19, 2008
I like to microwave since the oven can take so prolonged. I poke holes in it, generally about 4-5 fork stabs. Then I put in microwave on high for anywhere from 5-10 minutes depending on area. Make sure to turn over at least every 3 minutes. Poke a knife in it periodically to see if it feels soft.
I like to top with butter and brown sugar!

Sounds as though they weren't baked extended enough. They take a long time.
Use a double layer of foil.Spread a bit of butter or some oil on the wrap where the potato will sit.Poke a few holes in the sweet potato.Wrap well and bake or inappropriate on the bbq.It will take at least an hour and a half to be tender and soft.
You can check them by unwrapping and poking with a sharp knife to see if they are flabby. If not, return to the oven/bbq and bake awhile longer. The larger the potato, the longer it will take to bake of course.

sweet potatoes are my favorite. try this you will regard it. take aluminum foil and line the entire pan with foil. place your sweet potatoes in the foiled pan, if you have 4 sweet potatoes take 2 sticks of butter or margarine and apartment it on the potatoes and in the pan. take a cup of sugar or a little more and sprinkle it on the sweet potatoes. cover the pan and bake it in a preheated oven at 400 degrees for one hour and 30 minutes. you will have a easy and very tasty sweet potato.
teacher4ever | May 19, 2008
Wrapping the sweet potato in aluminum is hair-splitting, but first gently prick the potato with a fork all around the top and sides, then lightly rub the outside of the potato with Crisco shortening and wrap, baking at 350 degrees until the potato is still when poked with a knife.
Need 2 Know | May 19, 2008
I have made them in the Microwave....smite a few holes in them first....set timer for 5 minutes depending on how big it is...
or
to bake in the oven: pokes some holes in it first...put butter or margarine on sweet potato and wrap in lamina....set over to 325...
for about 50 minutes....just watch it...If you leave it in to long or put the oven at to high a temperature it will influence out hard...

Simple Question, What do I need to set my oven at to bake large sweet potato's and about how long?

I demand to wrap a sweet potato or two in aluminum foil and bake, however I'm not sure what to set the oven on, or estimate time it'll take before done.
One of Bell's favorite foods growing up to have for close occasions was sweet potato pie, and the Super Bowl certainly counts as a special occasion. Here is the recipe he and his family hand-me-down: Peel sweet potatoes and cook in pressure cooker until
I use overused raisin bread to achieve the cinnamon coffee-cake like flavor and texture of monarch cake, and baked garnet sweet potato puree to make the bread pudding custard rich and steamy. I also honor the revelry of Mardi Gras by topping it with whiskey
