I have a bonny, Winchester bowie knife, and was wondering if it would be legal for me to carry it unconcealed (it's pretty hard to canceal a 7" knife) in communal in Southern California (not L.A.). NO, I am not taking it to school!

I am troublesome to find the value of what i am told is an original bowie knife. I am also trying to figure out how i can get it authenticated. I live in the Dallas, Texas compass. Any help would be appreciated.
