Is it proper to take your own steak knife to a restaurant?

for sample... the shun folding steak knife...

more often then not it happens... a good steak house with bad knifes... then you end up messing up your steak. because the knife they give you is dismal and forces the juices off.

so, has anyone taken a personal steak knife to a restaurant?

Bringing in your own steak knife can be perceived as you being armed and threatening.

If you get a dull knife, call the management over and explain the situation to him or her. Simply ask them to find you a nice and sharp knife for you. They should do so happily and with a smile. They don't always eat at their own restaurants, so they may not grasp their knives are dull.

If you find they can't seem to find a nice and sharp steak knife for you, call ahead. Explain your situation, explain very nicely how much you benefit their food but find their knives to be too dull to do the job properly. Ask if they will accept you bringing in your own knife. If they agree, then do so. They will get to know that you are doing such a trend and will just mark you down as quirky, though you might get them to open their eyes and finally get a knife sharpener in or new knives!

I am just as bad as you... i cannot second c campaign for a dull knife. I always ask my server to make sure i get a sharp knife. When i worked as a chef, i heard the request a few times as well and always was timely to find and send out a better knife for those who asked. No chef wants to know the cutlery is mutilating their hard effort!

Happy munching!

No, don't do that, its not polite/socially acceptable. I'm sorry about your bad-steak-knife-experience, you might wanna try a different restaurant if it's leading to the dining experience for you.

No that would be creepy, they might call the oversee on you

I guess it could antiquated as ok specially if you're a meat gourmet; just be very careful where you transport it!

excellent not to carry a knife any where. It is possible to ask the
waiter for a sharp knife. they are sometimes available if politely asked for.

Yes, but understand them before they find out and they think you are a killer.

...No... truly, it's pretty darn strange. Just hack away at it and smile, even while your wishing destruction upon the dull knife.

i wouldn't find it clumsy, and i know exactly what you're talking about, the safety knife, with a 1/2 inch of roundness at the tip. Before resulting in walking around with a knife in your rip off, try using the butter knife they supply, they usually work better.

How do i treat a stab wound made by a steak knife?

It's about 1 1/2 in designing & about 1/2 an in long. I am trying to treat it without going to the doctor. Any ideas on how to treat this or should I go to the doctor?

disinfect the wound well with soap, water, hydrogen peroxide, beta-dine, apply nesosporine, use stteri-strips to tight-fisted the wound, cover with sterile bandaid. keep it clean. keep an eye on it for infection.

For Mother's day at the end of the month, has someone ideas for message on a Sabatier knife or steak knives ?

She should vindicate me and she likes knives and cooking so what message on the knife
I know that I am late it is the point I forgot, sometimes too busy !

To the top-notch!!!do what you like doing best!!!!

if your mum likes cooking,i think she would enjoy the message!!!!
