Why is a serrated knife better for cutting bread?

2. So you have teeth that bite into the bread and slice better

It drags the crumbs away better.

Because by using a "sawing" motions with the jagged edge, you are less likely to have to squish the bread into a hard lump - a serrated knife cuts through the crust without crushing the bread.

Because the teeth which get develop the serrated area are giving you a much larger cutting area , therefore making a better slice and easier handling .
