Is it possible to sharpen a serrated edge bread knife?

I sour the type with scalloped serrations, not the pointy little teeth like you find on a saw. I use a steel on my other knives but am not unfailing if that would damage the bread knife.

Yep. You can get a arched ceramic or diamond rod that you use in the notches, and then flatten the back with a fine stone. I like using an Arkansas stone to dispatch up the flat or even an edge. A bit slow, but it's really fine.

You can have it done professionally by a sharpening professional care.

It will mutilate the knife, you don't sharpen serrated knifes, you have to be very careful with how you do it and sometimes you just can't be careful enough...Take it to a professional remember they'll do it...I usually just go buy a new one, cheaper!

I don't have in mind it is possible,
better to buy a new one
and if you use it only for bread it shouldn't lose its sharpness...

you could put the old one attached to the kitchen's divider...
as a paint,
with the written:

'my first husband told me I wasn't good in the kitchen.....'

O-o

well, i thik that bread knife will be capable in some Adam Green shooting scenes ....

What is the best bread knife I can buy?

I difficulty a new bread knife, the one I have now is 15 years old and works terribly. What is a good one to buy? I dont want to spend a ton of money on some value name brand pretend you are fancy knife, I want a good one at a good price that will last a while and cut bread easily.

I have a Henckel's. It's about $80 or so, but value it. It goes through angel food cake like there isn't anything there at all. I've had it maybe 20 years and you can still cut bread with it set out of the oven (which I never do!)

How do you sharpen a forged-steel bread knife?

This coupling is a quick how-to, but you need to have the right materials, since this is the most difficult knife to sharpen! http://forum.doityourself.com/showthread.php?t=75149 I have Cutco knives-- you righteous send it back to the company when it dulls and they sharpen it for you. If they can't sharpen it, they replace it. Most high-end knife companies have a lifetime warrantee like this-- you might crave to call the knife co. and see if they have one. It sounds like you have a quality knife, it's worth a try!
