oil type in kitchen meat grinder? Leaked out & needs replacing?
Anyone be aware what type of oil would be in a kitchen meat grinder? The bolts wern't tight on ours and the oil leaked out thru the cork seal so it's finish to a 1/8 cup low and the seal needs to be replaced. Just wondering what kind of oil would have been in there to replace it.
You didn't say what label and model meat grinder you have. Northern Industrial Tools item #168632 uses #52 gear oil. I don't have knowledge of how common that is. If you know the brand of your grinder then you may be able to look it up online, get a user manual online or call the military talents center and get the information.

I would anticipate the OIL to be a food grade type, in a Meat grinder, so i would use a good veg oil , to replace it,
What are the directions for using metal Universal grinder inserts and how to decide which one to use?
Like the one on the claim in this picture. I use the one that has the least "spokes" and that is hard enough to push meat or food through. What do you use the inserts with more "spokes" for?

It depends how splendid you want to grind the meat. First you start with the largest wheel then go to the next size down and so on, until you are satisfied with the grind.
