Tremendous for pet food and human alike!
I de facto love having a meat grinder I've always wanted one and this meets all my needs. I make my own pet food and the pets love it. I also use it to establish my own ground meats. They are healthier and taste better, and I think my favorite part is that my ground beef is red all the way through. It doesn't upset brown in the middle like store bought meat!
Terrific For General Use, but.....
We got this grinder in original June. It is now mid August and we are buying another grinder, not because we don't like the machine, but because it stopped working.

For our dogs: We grind about 40# of chicken per week, bones and all. The grinder flies through the chicken faster than we can accoutrements it down the chute. It is loud however. One day in particular, I ground 120 lbs of meat/bone/organ/veggies. By the time I was done I could not approve of. So, if you're going to do a large grind, then wear earplugs.

For ourselves: We grind beef for hamburger, and we have made sausage. Grinding beef is no fine kettle of fish. However, when it came to making sausage, the instructions were less than helpful. I still don't know if we used the equipment properly, but the sausage got made. I do have knowledge of that you do not want the blade in the machine while making the sausage. Regrinding the meat turned it to mash and clogged the mechanism.

What this machine will do - grind veggies, meat and soft bones. What it won't do - grind fibrous or fatty meat. I tried grinding beef kidney. It categorically could not be done. There are times when chicken fat will clog it. Beef with a lot of fat will clog it.

This machine is under lubricated or incorrectly lubricated for grinding jobs such as sinewy or fatty grinds or bone grinds. It contains all metal gears except one receptive gear. The machine overheats. I noticed about a month after getting it that grease was coming out of it. The reason is evidently that the gears got hot and melted the grease, which poured out of the gear housing. I did not take the machine apart at that time, but should have. In the end, in the middle of a grind, after about 40 lbs, the machine overheated to the point that the plastic gear melted and destroyed the motor. After realigning the gears, and relubricating them, the apparatus will run in reverse, but will not run forward. It will not grind.

I did not purchase my grinder from Northern Tool, so when I called about warranty information, I was blown off, since they couldn't find an account for me. I contacted the seller from whom I purchased the by-product and was simply told to contact the manufacturer listed in the owner's manual. The only company listed is Northern Vehicle, so we come full circle. I do not know who the actual manufacturer is, so getting a warranty replacement is next to impossible. Crave story short, we have no warranty coverage.

If I had known then what I know now, I'd have spent double the money and gotten a Tasin. At the very least, I might be proficient to get warranty coverage. But, at this point, after wasting $100 on a machine which I assumed had a warranty, I choose not to go with any of the machines in this authority class. It makes me regret not getting the proper type of machine in the first place. We are replacing this with a refurbished 1 HP all stainless quarters, blades, and plates, and all metal gears housed in lubricant, which has a full one year warranty and specifically covers palliate bone grinding. We'll be spending $400, but the peace of mind is worth it.

I would recommend this product to a mistress, without hesitation. BUT, I would not recommend it for someone grinding fatty or sinewy meats, and I would not recommend it as a long term clique for massive raw feeding. I would recommend it for sausage making, for hamburger, and for general household use, or even for someone who is just feeding a mundane dog or a cat. I would recommend it as a short term solution to someone who needs a grinder for high volume raw feeding, but doesn't have the cabbage to spend on a higher quality machine. And finally, I would recommend that if you want any type of warranty coverage, you get this clique only from Northern Tool, as the warranty seems to be more of a seller warranty than a true manufacturer's warranty.
Fast Product
We've had this Northern Industrial meat grinder for about 6 months and have reach-me-down it several times. It well made, powerful and easy to use. Some other comments about the noise had us concerned before we purchased it. However, we find it to be powerful and the gear reduction system does have a scrap noise, but not unexpected or unacceptable. More importantly, we can grind several pounds of meat in about a minute or two, so it isn't on very long.

The unit comes with several attachments and we purchased a modest blade for a few dollars in case we need it some day when the unit is no longer in production. It is very easy to assemble and to uncontaminated and put away.

In some ways this unit is overkill for our purposes, but we get the feeling it will last a lifetime. It is larger than the cheaper units at the big box stores, and some of them may have been satisfactory. However, for us it is likely to be a once-in-a-lifetime purchase so we spent a few extra dollars to get something that would last. Overall it is a good value!

The only part that could lean to rust would be the plate with the holes and we clean it well, dry it, and then spray it with a little Pam before putting the unit away. One warn that they provide but is worth repeating is that the blade retaining ring does not need to be tightened very much- ethical snug. Too tight can cause excessive wear of the blade.

We also partially freeze the meat before grinding- based on before experience- haven't tried not doing that with this grinder, yet.
Admirable product, poor packaging
The offshoot is excellent and, after a little bit of practice, grinds meat exactly as advertised. The shipping packaging was not so good, however. A minimum amount of strip was used on the edges of the shipping carton and the tape did not hold during shipping. Fortunately, everything arrived safely; but the box was substantial open on at least two sides. Thank you UPS!
Close, durable
The output does a nice job. As another reviewer mentioned, it is easy to put the cutting blade in backwards. The drawing in the instructions looks like it was made by a 3-year old and is not very unconfused. So make sure the blade faces the grinder plate. Also, even after drying and coating with oil some metal parts will still offer the oil black.

The machine feels heavy duty, very durable and powerful. I am happy with the performance so far. I unbiased ground up 5.25 pounds of pork in just under 5 minutes using the coarse plate with the larger holes. The other plates with smaller holes will take more beforehand. Still a good job I think. Also, the shipping charge is high and tax was charged even though the company does not have a POS in my home body politic.

First notice I ever returned to amazon.
Pro: does lucubrate, although pretty slow.

Con:
-when it arrived, the plates smelled of machine oil, so I washed and dried it before use. Discoloration appeared on scornful plates after 1 use. Rust started to appear on the large plate even though I wash and dry it right after using. Rust also arise on the metal part of the plastic worm.
-Everything is plastic except blade and cutting plate and spring.
-meat tends to get into the leap.

Its a good machine for the price, if only it didn't rust on me and the plates didn't looked like gasoline floating on top of soften. So I made tough decision and add another 100 dollars for the Waring pro on the amazon.
don't even waiste your sometimes and money
it is not useable at all. very inexpensive quality. it can not even grind water, let alone to meat. do not even think to look at it. im returning it.
A Grinder that is applicable for home use
I had bought a Waring Pro from Beds Bath and Beyond but somehow it straight got stuck while grinding Beef had to be returned. This Rival 2275 is plastic but solid built, all the parts make off with in snugly and it just works. I would recommend this for home use definitely.
Teeny-weeny meat grinder....
This is a dulcet good little meat grinder, I've used it several times over the course of owning it and the only problem I have had is that when you grind up meat with fat and stuff in there, it has a affinity to wrap around the feed grinder inside of it, I had to keep taking it apart to take the fat and stuff out of it, but I don't know if it was me or the machine. I've cast-off it for beef and deer mainly and it does grind up the meat really well, though some you have to cut up really small to put in there, depends on the fat and nonsense in there. It has 2 different grinding disk sizes and a sausage maker to go with it, though I have not used the sausage maker to it. The disk will rust a bantam if you don't dry them out before you pack it away, but I found that putting them in a plastic baggie after they've dried works pretty good in keep the rust down on them. Over all, it's a wholesome little grinder, it impressed me.
devoted little machine!
I bought this for my boyfriend because he wanted to start making homemade sausages. It is a zealous little machine for the price! It definitely takes a bit of time to use, but the results were well worth it!

Inexplicably awful Bay Area Reporter

Isabelle Huppert presided over the Cannes Glaze Festival jury that awarded Michael Haneke the 2009 Palme d'Or, its highest honor, for his White Ribbon. Some cried favoritism, since he'd directed her in The Piano Advisor (2001) and Time of the Wolf (2002), and will direct her again in a film about "the humiliation of the physical breakdown in the elderly." But positively, is it favoritism to share the aesthetic vision that people can't help being psychotic jerks?

Haneke said about Huppert that she "has such professionalism, the way she is proficient to represent suffering. At one end you have the extreme of her suffering, and then you have her icy intellectualism. No other actor can combine the two." Substitute "headman" for "actor," and Haneke has just described himself. As a filmmaker, he likes to shove the sorrows of the delighted through the meatgrinder of neo-Brechtian alienation.

The White Ribbon is a grisly whodunit with no clear resolution, a series of interrelated crimes perpetrated in a mundane northern German village on the eve of World War I. Murders, maulings, incest, booby traps, vandalism, organism cruelty. There's no explicit political tension, just an excess buildup of everyday angst that can't stop for a formal commencement of hostilities to start taking it out on the victims nearest to hand. There's a band of children seen hovering virtually crime scenes, but exactly how dreadful they are is never cleared up.

Meat Grinder - Where do I buy an electric one?

I'm looking to gain an electric meat grinder. Any recommendations? I don't want to spend a lot of money. When I grind which will be about once every other month I'll only be grinding about 15 pounds so this will be a kitchenette project. I've never done this before so recommendations and suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

I at the end of the day really love the meat grinder attachment to my KitchenAid mixer. Better than my mom's old hand-cranked one. It's precious at first, but you'll never regret it.

Any caboose store has them, but the newer ones blow. They are cheap and do a second rate job.

What you want is an old fashioned approaching cranker. They clean easier, are smaller and last Forever. You can buy them on Ebay.

I like the Cookhouse Aid one that goes on the mixer well made cheap and much easier to clean than old hand grinders.

I honestly really love the meat grinder attachment to my KitchenAid mixer. Better than my mom's old hand-cranked one. It's up-market at first, but you'll never regret it.

What does unlocked power wattage & maximum locked motor wattage mean in relation to an electric meat grinder?

I am looking to securing an electric meat grinder but am confused by these 2 measurements. For example, one grinder says 350 unlocked watts and 1800 maximum locked motor watts. What do those numbers refer to?

Those are referring to the amount of power strained under both conditions. Unlocked means the grinder is running with no load (not obstructed, not grinding anything). Locked means the motor is on, but not turning (i.e. jammed). When the grinder is operating becomingly, the actual power will be between the 2 numbers. The higher that these numbers are means the motor is more powerful.

I've and electric meat grinder and when i was using it it switched off and shot fire out from under it?

what could be dishonest did something just short out?
