Can anyone tell me how you regulate the pressure on a "Mirro"brand pressure cooker????

I was recently agreed-upon a "Mirro" brand pressure cooker(used) it did not have an instruction booklet with it. It has no pressure gauage with it. It does have a pop-off valve and what appears to be a two part pressure regulator that fits on the top derive of the lid. I would like to "bbq" a whole chicken in it but i'm leary of it blowing up.

Very carefully.

The pressure is distinct by the heat setting. You should be able to download a booklet from their website. You may have to pay for it, but it would be a big help in learning how to use it. Hope this helps...admissible luck!

I have a Mirro pressure cooker. The derive coming out of the top requires what is called (don't laugh) a pet c o c k. It is a round heavey metal disc and has three holes at even intervals around the facing of it. Each of those holes is a 5, 10 or 15 pound pressure setting. Do not use your pressure cooker without it. It will blow up!

I don't have the instruction engage, but it is regulated by how high the heat is,turn it on high until it starts jiggling. Once it starts jiggling you long for to lower the heat so it will only jiggle about once every thirty seconds or so, but the best thing is to call and order the instructions from Mirro, they'll be satisfied to send them I'm sure.

Good Luck

you necessity the round pressure piece for it work properly. check your local hardware store that sells canning supplies. also coincide on line mirro may have a web site.

you necessary to have the pressure regulating weight that fits over the pipe in the center of the lid. Take the gasket out the lid, oil it lightly, and stretch it a little pulling it slighty in 3 inch segments. Duty the gasket back in the lid keeping it flat and tucked under the edge. Mirro makes a regulator for 15, 10 and 5 lb. pressure settings. Most cooking done on the 15 lbs surroundings. Never use higher than med heat in pressure cooking. When you hear the regulator leaking steam turn the heat to route low and time as directed in a recipe. Brown your chicken using med heat and a tablepoon of oil in the cooker. You need to add 1/3 to 1/2 cu water to shape steam for pressure cooking. Cut up chicken cooks faster than a whole bird. Look up pressure cooking recipes for ideas. Timing is urgent as well a heat regulation. Tomato sauces scorch in pressure cooking, so place on chicken right after cooking is completed let remain to heat the sauce before serving. I would look up the Mirro site on the internet and see if they supply directions for your model cooker. I like my pressure pot for cooking dried beans and stews. I have also made layered meals in mine

Where can I get a handle for an old 8 QT Mirro Pressure Cooker, Model M-0398?

I admiration my old Mirro Pressure Cooker, but, one of the cover handles is broken. I would like to find a replacement handle, or, an old lid or cooker with a handle. I have searched the web to no avail. Hypothesize I need to find somebody who has an old one, or, who might have old parts laying around. Thanks

Oh Mouse! I thought I could give you an answer because I have an old Mirro PC but I was wrong. My pressure cooker is real old but the serial # starts with M-05***, and yours is M-03***. I still have my Mirro Book and it was, at that era owned by "Betty Crocker". That might give you a clue where to look. Yours may be one that can't be fixed --- penitent because I know how much I still love and use mine to can and cook with. We both may have to replace our favorite cookware ---- soon.

Good Chance!!

I have an old Mirro-Matic pressure cooker.?

I was making chana dahl and it dissolved and clogged the corner. The pressure cooker blew and now I need a replacement part. Theres a hole (not the one the weight fits on) on the lid where something goes. I was looking at parts online and I recollect I need an "over pressure plug". Does anyone know if that's what I need????

Yes that's what you requisite. Its a round plug that fits in the hole. I did that once and the thing blew up and embedded in the ceiling. I have been very cautious using the pressure cooker ever since.
