i need a definitely good recipe for pot roast. i've got alot of family coming to visit.


Be killed Pot Roast

Ingredients

(8 servings)

----INGREDIENTS-----
1 4-6 pound Beef Round
2 tb Shortening
1 tb Salt
2 Whole cloves of garlic
2 lg Onions; sliced
2 lg Carrots; sliced
2 cn (16 oz) Stewed Tomatoes
1/2 c - Soda water
2 tb Flour
1/4 c - Cold water


Instructions

AN EXCELLENT POT ROAST GREAT FOR ENTERTAINING
Dredge the meat in the 1/4 cup flour, occasion with salt and a little pepper if you like. Brown slowly on all sides in shortening with garlic cloves in a sad kettle. Watch that garlic--when it's brown lift it out! Add vegetables, return garlic, seasonable to taste. Add 1/2 cup water. Simmer covered, until tender, about 3-1/2 hours. Turn the pot roast again, adding more water if needed. Remove the meat, strain vegetables, and measure broth in pot and add enough eatables stock to make 2 cups. Blend and add the 2 tablespoons of flour and 1/4 cup cold water. Cook, awe-inspiring constantly, until thickened.

Watch that garlic--when it's brown lift it out! Add vegetables, return garlic, spice to taste. Add 1/2 cup water. Simmer covered, until tender, about 3-1/2 hours. Turn the pot roast from time to time, adding more water if needed. Remove the meat, strain vegetables, and measure broth in pot and add enough essence stock to make 2 cups. Blend and add the 2 tablespoons of flour and 1/4 cup cold water. Cook, intoxicating constantly, until thickened.

I second you buy two 5 pound chuck roast about 3 inches thick. Season the meat with salt and pepper and a light dusting of flour. Brown the edibles in a heavy skillet with 2 tablespoons of butter and 3 tablespoons of oil. Place the browned meat in a roaster pan with 2 whole onions that have been quartered, and 2 cans of beef consomm. Cover tightly with aluminum foil and bake in the oven at 350 for 2 1/2 hours. Take the pan out of the oven and study the meat for tenderness. If a fork goes easily into the meat, it is time to add 2 pounds of carrots peeled and cut in half, and 1 potato for each man plus 4 (for those potato lovers). Recover the roaster with the foil and return to the oven for 1 more hour or until the potatoes are done. Let stay for 15 minutes, while you prepare your gravy. In the pan that you browned the meat, add 3 tablespoons of butter and 6 tablespoons of flour. cook this over mode low heat until smooth. Slowly add the juices from the roaster pan to the butter flour mixture, whisking until glabrous and thickened you your desired consistency. Season the gravy with salt and pepper. Place the meat on a serving plate with the onion, carrots and potatoes. Serve with your gravy and lots of buttery rolls. Enjoy!

When making pot roast why do cooks put so much vegetables in the pot with it?I just eat the roast?

Can pot roast be made without the vegetables?What else can be done to them to up them look tasty?Maybe drain the broth in a bowl and mix them in it.

I put vegetables in my pot roast because I LIKE it that way... Yes, you can rearrange it without vegetables if that's the way you like it. There's no law demanding pot roast be made any specific way.

Besides pot roasts what other kinds of things can you make with a beef bottom round roast?

I am looking for something distinctive and easy to make. I already have a recipe for beef with noodles made from a pot roast, but I can't seem to find any other types of recipes.


I expect the meat is still raw. You can always cut the beef into cubes and make beef stew. Or cut it into individual serving sizes (about 1/2 to 3/4" thick vertically) and convert swiss steak.
