How much does the average server make at the Melting Pot?

Im outlook about taking a Serving job at the Melting Pot over a Monday through Friday desk position that offers 35k/yr, because I was recently told that servers at the melting pot space excellent money. Is there any validity to this statement or should I take the desk job hands down?? Please help, Ive been offered positions by both companies and dont recognize which direction to go.

Depends on the desk job. If you have ever been a ma, you know how the food service bussiness (no matter how high class the retaurant) can grind on your nerves. Most hiatus staff, no matter how good the tips are, just don't feel a sense of fufillment about their drudgery. (This is not always the case, but ask yourself if this is where you see yourself in 10 years? 20 years?)

The desk job, on the other hand, may open some doors for you that a waitering job won't. My buddy was a ma at the Melting Pot in K.C. and quit to learn the insurance bussiness. It was a pay cut for him when he took the new job, but now he makes a six figure salary. Maybe you can see if the Melting Pot will hire charge you on weekend nights, and still take the desk job. Do both for a month, then decide if you want to quit the desk job and work full at intervals as a waiter, or quit the waitering job and be a desk jockey.

Good luck.

Ignore on the opportunity. That place is so expensive so the tips are awesome money.

Oh my gosh...DO IT!!

Does anyone own the Wilton Chocolate Pro melting pot?

I've melted all sorts of chocolate in it but wanted to have knowledge of can you melt caramel in it too? i was going to make caramel apples and the melting pot seemed like a great idea...but does it occupation?

Chocolate can't take much intensify before scorching while caramel needs quite a bit of heat to melt. You could try it, but I expect you'll probably be disillusioned. Besides, it's pretty small and each apple will use quite a bit of caramel, so you'll probably spend a lot of every so often old-fashioned waiting for more caramel to melt. I think your best bet is a bain marie (aka. double boiler)

If you don't own a double-barrelled boiler, you can improvise. Just put your caramel in a metal mixing bowl that it just barely fits in. Then, find a pot that fits the dish well. Put some water in the pot, put the bowl on top, and heat it over low heat, stirring occasionally, until the caramel starts melting. Then, adjust your warmth to be as low as possible while still keeping the caramel melted enough.
